Then he proceeds to ignore what you said, faustus5 , to support his narrative like his friend. You talking to me? Well then, if you take over the failed burden-of-proof from faustus5, I would love to hear it :
(i) explain the relevance of European colonialism (EC) for the story and characters (motivation) of BP, and (ii) what this movie has to SAY about this complex and difficult subject matter, by stating
- exact dialogue - exect scene - describe motivation (by dialogue and scenes) - and messege (by dialogue and scenes)
Eg Explain:
- How does EC affect a story about a sci-fi country hiding behind energy shields (we have countries like Liberia and Ethiopia for that) - How does EC affect a young Afro-American in 2018 who seems out for the Wakanda throne and revenge - How is EC a theme affecting the story and characters? - How is the topic of EC discussed and evaluated, does it differenciate per nation (Europe is not one country, these were several nations acting very differently per country, just see Begium in Congo)
Just note, I do not care for childish pseudo-arguments. Just bc a big word is (pretentiously) uttered does not make it relevant for the plot and charatcers.
Eg the topic of "ocean pollution" is blatantly a theme in "Aquaman", but it's dealt with so superficially that this important topic is factually reduced to a mere plot device to get the story going. Stiil, if you remove this motivator the character actions and story do not make sense anymore. I bet that is a lot more than you can say about EC in BP.
I'm just saying you guys need to stop ignoring people so your narrative will stay intact.
Also, the main topic of Black Panther is isolationism. Colonialism is just a topic in the movie. And about the ocean pollution. The villains just want to attack the surface world. Ocean pollution is just a reason for them to feed their people. You can put any reason there like over fishing the oceans. The people in Black Panther feel the topic of isolationism to their core.

isolationism is not really shown at all in the film. the people dont feel it since it is not shown. when you watch BP you think of how cool blacks are the most and there is nothing wrong with that. just dont compare it to color purple but feel free to attack that movie too. this is what is like to feel isolation. and I am using X3 of all films. I wanted to post first class were beast and mystique discuss the cure. both characters even admitted for mutants they are still isolated.
when you watch BP you think more about the family crisis and fight for the throne as seen in thor 1. mcu cant tackle any theme deep. X3 did isolation better and even make character have choices. anyone can feel sorry for angel here. name one BP character in supporting role you can feel sorry for. even the main villian killmonger came of as an angry black man.
when I tell people BP is a dumbed down version of first class, I know what I mean. the facts of film making and story telling dont lie. mcu fans have too

This whole "X is bad/not that good, but people are praising it because it panders to anti-racists" conversation happens practically every year. GET OUT, MOONLIGHT... And that's just the most common complaint. There are others. Not always about the social commentary. Sometimes that it's a tribute to a type of movie that hasn't been made in years (like LA LA LAND and THE ARTIST). Other times it's not even about the movie but an actor or director who's "long overdue."
I wish people would just get it in their heads: If this happened only with the Oscars, it might be true, but it happens throughout the awards season. Different organizations have different types of voters (gender, ethnicity, religion, political stance, etc...) and different amounts of voters. And not all of them are also critics who publish their reviews on sites like Rotten Tomatoes. And none of them are moviegoers who publish their thoughts on social media or forums. It's mathematically impossible for all these people to have the same mentality. Hell, even within 1 organization, it's hard to believe that all the members get together and agree on what to vote in advance.
Bottom line: The praise for BLACK PANTHER has been mostly based on merit.

The oscars are not about cultural significance. they are about awarding what is the best. poor mcu. look at how much your movies have destroyed cinema? all this awards recognition BP is getting and people are laughing and cringing. MCU fans cant even brag about it because you mcu fans know it is based on a lie and the disney pr machine.
ah...dont we miss the days of tdk, deadpool and logan. getting awards nom for merit.everyone cheered real marvel and dc fans. did not matter whose film it was. MCU fans only have to pretend they like logan and deadpool and TDK.
But remember even the garbage kids mcu comedies wont get any oscars above the likes of DOFP, Spiderman 2, Batman Begins. hey, remember your idotic attacks on james cameron? he won 3 in one night for merit.
the world cheered because titanic was one hell of a ground breaking spectacular movie both in story telling and cgi. somthing no MCU movie is.
The days of Logan? Didn't that come out like 5 years ago? You make it sound like it was long ago.
And Cameron is still riding on Titanic. Just like Singer is still riding on The Usual Suspects.
cameron had avatar. another ground breaking movie. that deserved its best picture nomination. titanic is a timeless movies unlike your mcu movie we forget about 3 days.
also. more desperate play that just exposes how bad mcu movies are. logan was only last year as you know. TDK that came out 10 years ago people are now bringing it up to show bp should not get any thing.
lol. logan came out 5 years ago......talk of desperation...poor mcu fans lieing does not seem to be getting you anywhere.
oh and Logan is superior to black panther as a film. reason it was recognised on merit. race baiting not needed.

You're so cute when you try to sound smart. hm....so no comebcak when I exposed the BP as a generic movie to FC that had depth.
typical for mcu fans.
