So I think we're all pretty much agreed that Avengers: Infinity War was pretty much a masterpiece. I saw it twice in the theatres, bought it on Blu-ray, have seen at least 12 times, and will again... several times more.
BUT
If, IF, we were to pick out a thing or two that we didn't like, or would have wanted to see, what would those be?
1) What happened to Captain America? It was like he was on a sleeping pill. He had a great entrance (I remember being very excited when he showed up and it made me feel a little gay because I never get that excited when men show up), but after that it was as if he might as well not be there...
2) Black Widow... same thing...
3) Black Widow and Bruce Banner. Last we saw them together (AOU) it was getting real! This time it was all "Hi Bruce" "Hi Nat". That's all?! I know they had a lot of ground to cover in this movie but they could have given us at least ONE conversation between the two! After all, look at how much they did with Scarlet Witch and Vision in their few scenes!
4) Hulk. I know Thanos is a bad ass. THE bad ass. I get it. And how do they show that someone is a bad ass? Pick the biggest, strongest guy, beat his ass real good, and bingo you're the new biggest, strongest guy. They use him that way in the comics too. But that fight between Hulk and Thanos should have been awesome!!! That could have been an earth shattering fight. And where was "the angrier he gets the stronger he gets!"?
5) Hulk part 2. They didn't take the chance to redeem him. What a wasted opportunity it was not to see Hulk busting out of the Hulk-Buster armor! Instead they gave us "NOOOO!"
6) Drax, the Destroyer. For a guy who's whole purpose it is to kill Thanos he didn't kick that much ass when he got the chance. As much as I like him, he's definitely been down graded from what he is in the comics.
7) Deaths. Very cool scenes the way the deaths were handled. But when you stop to think about it... no one of significance really died. The characters that died were all people who will either never get their own franchise, or are not scheduled to come back in their own franchise. We knew Spidey, Black Panther, and GOTG were all coming back. But how much more significant would it have been if Captain America had died! Or Iron Man! For a minute when he got stabbed I thought "There it goes!"
Anyway, great movie. Those are my minor persnicketies.

I agree with 3 & 5. I would agree with 1 & 2, but I feel like Endgame is going to make up for that.
I feel like there's definitely a conversation between Nat & Banner on the cutting room floor somewhere.

Blu commentary points out Cap's original planned entrance wasn't until Wakanda, right before Thanos. Rogers was staying off the grid for both his sake & that of the Avengers post-Civil War. His role will undoubtedly be huge in End Game, esp if they were originally withholding his participation for 95% of IW.

Mine are:
Lack of a full backstory for Thanos.
Film isn't really long enough.
Lack of a background story or even a good introduction to the Black Order.

I actually agree with most of those criticisms. But again, at the end of the day, they’re minor nitpicks.

He didn't love her half as much as he loved being Mr Big Dick and she knew that. Your comprehension skills are embarrassingly low sometimes.

I think there's a difference between stuff that we didn't like or would have liked to see more of... and stuff that were legitimately weak, inconsistent, incorrect or just plain stupid. Examples of the latter are:
1. The inconsistency of the power levels of the Black Order - in particular Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive. In one scene we have Corvus Glaive trading hits with Vision. In another he's put on his ass by a kick from BW. Proxima is tough enough to get thrown around by Wanda through burning vehicles yet is also knocked off her ass by a kick from Falcon. Cull Obsidian was strong enough to overpower Ironman, even Hulkbuster, but had his weapon stopped dead in its tracks by Spiderman.
2. The ease with which the Asgardians were defeated in the beginning. We know from Agents of SHIELD that even a lowly Asgardian farmer is strong enough to throw around cars and crumple tactical knives in his grip. So even if majority of the Asgardians in the escape ship were civilians, they still should have put up a good fight. That's not even including elite Asgardians like Heimdall, Loki and Valkryie, plus Hulk and Thor. Instead in the beginning it looks like Thanos' team didn't suffer any damage and easily annihilated the Asgardians. Considering what we know of Thanos' forces plus the strength level of his children, we should have at least seen multiple carcasses of outriders and his Black Order should have at least have had battle wounds.
3. The mistreatment of Bucky - This is a guy who's supposed to be near equal to Captain America, yet in the battle of Wakanda how come only Cap and T'Challa are seen outpacing all the others in their run? Shouldn't Bucky be able to run just as fast as they do? Furthermore, why didn't he get some advanced Wakandan blaster as a weapon instead of a regular rifle?
4. Thor's powerset - this movie makes it seem that Thor needs a weapon to use his powers, when we know after Ragnarok that he should have been able to use his powers on his own. In fact, his lightning powers seemed to be even more powerful in Ragnarok than here. It would have been nice to know what exactly Stormbreaker grants him other than it being able to cut through Thanos. My theory is that it should have allowed him to use the odinforce... but that's never discussed. And so we almost completely lost the growth we got out of Thor from Ragnarok when he stopped being depending on his hammer.... to now being dependent on an axe.
5. Gamora's personality - this is supposed to be the most dangerous assassin in the universe... we see none of that. She's portrayed as the one with the softest heart among the GoTG, and seems kinda weak personality wise. I just wish they portrayed her as more badass to keep it consistent with her backstory of being Thanos' favored daughter. Nothing about her showcases her being "strong" as Thanos often mentions.
6. Starlord hitting Thanos in the face - I understand that Starlord is a jerk. I understand that he was grieving for Gamora. But regardless, Starlord is still not a complete idiot and only a complete idiot would have acted like he did. That scene should have been handled way better.

But regardless, Starlord is still not a complete idiot and only a complete idiot would have acted like he did. That scene should have been handled way better. You make some good points. I hadn't thought of the Thor thing that way before. That's kinda true if you bring in the evolution he made in Ragnarok.
And the point about Star Lord too. I can accept him losing it and hitting Thanos since he just found out the woman he loved was killed, but I did feel like the GOTG characters were a bit more buffoonish in this than they were in their own movies. It was all funny, but maybe in too dumb a way(?)
Overall the movie is great so its easy to overlook some of these details. These are still just nitpicks though.

4) I'm hoping it's because we're going to get a huge fight between them in A4 and hopefully see the biggest angriest Hulk we've ever seen, but hopefully with Bruce in his head.
6) Wow. I never even THOUGHT about that. He barely gave a shit about anything. He was even yawning when he was finally about to face his greatest enemy. Good point.
7) Yeah and the one person to actually die, Gamora, is like one of the only characters I feel has a lot of story left to tell. We've barely scratched the surface.

Anyway, great movie. Those are my minor persnicketies. Thanks for taking the time to write these up. In the interest of good conversation, I'll push back lightly on your Hulk criticisms and just say that we haven't seen the blowoff to that yet, so it's premature (to me) to judge those moments critically. If it leads to a culmination where Hulk and Thanos have the epic fight we all wanted in the first place, then that's perfect. That is, in pro wrestling parlance, Booking 101. But since we don't know what's coming, it's just too hard to nail down right now. Your fears could still, in retrospect, turn out to be true.
