Roger Goodell addressed the public today at the Super Bowl. He addressed the aggregious no call in the Saints/Rams conference championship.
I am sure it is available on the Internet.
Basically, Roger Goodell is full of shit. He is covering for a cheating referee. I think the NFL told the refs to help the Rams.
If the NFL wants to restore integrity to the league, that ref needs to be fired. Either for cheating. Or gross incompetence.
Either he was cheating for the Rams and/or against the Saints. Or he is so deaf, dumb and blind he should not be refereeing.

There are bad calls and no-calls in every game. And there is corruption. And people cheat. Everywhere. Easy for you to say. Until you get cheated.

Dude, take it easy. You're approaching DC-Fan levels of accusing a team of cheating.

Dude, take it easy. You're approaching DC-Fan levels of accusing a team of cheating. That ref saw what the rest of the world saw. He intentionally didn't call it. The NFL would have fired him. But they told him to do it.

Dude - did AD really tell upper management during the offseason not to resign Boogie - then this China Doll is bolting?
What would it take to get Jrue?
I want him back 'home' by next Thursdays trade deadline.
It pains me - but I'll throw you Fultzy, the 2021 Miami 1st Rounder (going to be lotto), Chandler, 2 #2s and cash.
When you jetson AD - you're also going to get valuable young assets - just go into 'tank mode' now and collect assets.

If the Pelicans play their cards right, they can get a lot for AD. But ticket sales, attendance and local interests will never be good. Nobody but hard core basketball fans are going to watch a 500 ball club.

I agree, the Saints had further opportunities. They had the lead with a minute and a half left. And they got the ball first in overtime. Like I said, you either have to blow an opponent out. Or the refs (NFL) will cheat for their desired winner. In other words, the objective fan will never get a close match between equally matched opponents going down to the last minute. If it is close, the refs (NFL) will step in and cheat for one team or another.

Hopefully the NFL will change the rules on instant replay, what calls can be challenged, and the power of the booth and New York.

As egregious as the missed call was...its best to let it go. It isn't the reason the Saints lost and theres nothing they can do about it now. Pull that bandaid off and move on.
However, Goodell says something like 'one more ref in the booth is just one more human who will make mistakes'...yea Rog, but the more eyes are on something the less a chance of something getting missed. The fact that the no call got missed by 7 refs makes people think that clearly isn't enough. I tell people at work all the time to double check me and I double check them to help make sure nobody is missing anything, especially something obvious. 7 pairs of eyes is good, 8 pairs of eyes is better.
Also...just make everything challengeable but with a limited number of challenges. Let a coach explain what he's challenging and give the refs whatever time they are alloted to look at the film and see if the coach was right. If it only happens a handful of times per game so be it.

The Saints and Chiefs should play an exhibition game on the same day as the super bowl in protest to shitty ref calls.
