or is it always a reflection on the one making the comment?

Subjective criticism is always valid as far as I'm concerned. If a movie is "boring" then it is doing something wrong, because any subject can be made into a good movie regardless if it is dealing with a subject that the viewer isn't interested in. Keep in mind that a movie being slow moving and a movie being boring are two completely different things. I can usually explain why I find a movie boring though. It is definitely a valid criticism if the person can explain why they find the movie boring, but for the average viewer, being able to explain why a movie is boring isn't necessary.
When I rate a movie on this site or explain my opinion about it, it is always subjective. It is just letting people know whether I personally like the movie or not.

I feel it is an entirely valid criticism, but just one not everyone may share. Much of movie creating is about making the audience feel certain ways, and bored usually isn't one of them.

Of course. Try watching "Cure for Insomnia" and tell me that isn't a valid criticism.

I think its very valid. Who wants to see a boring film? Well obviously no one I'd imagine, but quite often when people call a film boring, others will put the onus on them ("you don't get it", "that says more about you than the film").

I think it is a valid criticism, but it doesn´t mean that the movie is a bad one. How many people find 2001: A Space Odyssey one of the most boring movies ever, but at the same time they consider it one of the best movies ever made?

Well obviously no one I'd imagine, but quite often when people call a film boring, others will put the onus on them ("you don't get it", "that says more about you than the film"). More complex movies make that comeback convenient, but it is an assumption that the viewer didn't understand the movie. I understand Mulholland Drive but it fails to fully engage me, but in this case I still give the movie a positive rating because technically it is a good movie. Most people wouldn't be as fair as me though. It is possible to fully understand a movie like Mulholland Drive and be completely indifferent to it at the same time. When it comes to movies that are considered great by most people that are relatively simple, that comeback goes right out the window.

i was being general sorry. No problem I rarely find movies boring, last movie I found boring was victoria and Abdul(Outside Dench and Fazal) but always attempt to complete a movie regardless of how appalling.

You are confusing slow-moving with boring I think. I would never refer to 2001: A Space Odyssey as boring.

I think the opinion of: "I found the film boring" CAN BE a valid criticism... Especially when the movie is supposed to be a comedy, and the person didn't find it to be humorous...
There does need to be feedback from the audience to make better movies...
However, there are many times, where people think their opinion is more important that anyone else's in the world, and will say shit like that, even though they were the only ones who didn't like the film, but everyone else enjoyed it.
Remember The Old Saying: "You can't please everyone"
So what are the film makers supposed to do? Make a film, just for YOU? A film made to make YOU and only YOU laugh or to be entertained? Get real, it is never going to happen!
"I thought the film was complete garbage, and I didn't like anything about it"
Obviously, this kind of opinion, is all about YOU... It isn't constructive criticism, and doesn't nothing to help the situation.
You should just let it go, and move on, and discuss some other film that you do like...
"I didn't see it."
Then who gives a shit? That kind of a statement has nothing to do with the question...
YOU are not more important than anyone else in the world! YOU do not HAVE TO share your opinion with someone who doesn't give a shit about what you have to say!
Let me say that again, and pay attention: "YOU do not HAVE TO share your opinion with someone who doesn't give a shit about what you have to say!"
Just keep your mouth shut, and the world will be a much better place!
With all that said...
So... Depending on the context of the discussion...
The opinion of: "I found the film boring" ... Many not be a valid criticism... if it has no meaning, and it all boils down to a post being made by a Troll...

No problem I rarely find movies boring Me either, but that's more down to me knowing the sort of thing I like and generally steering clear of things I know will "bore" me.
