Why can't people just pray and worship the deity of their choice in their own homes, dwellings or wherever else they choose?

Because of tradition and because it is important for some people to have that specific place to go to in search for answers, company and peace. Some churches are really beautiful as well with a peaceful atmosphere to them.

What's wrong with social groups for gullible people?

Christian Doctrine includes the need for fellowship.
It doesn't matter if people who don;t want to associate attend or not making this a moot point...Right up there with asking why there are sports arenas when there is TV.

Why can't people just pray and worship the deity of their choice in their own homes, dwellings or wherever else they choose? Because we are all brothers and sisters, so we should all worship together.

I have attended a lot of concerts over the years. Watching a DVD of them at home isn't the same as being there. They are two completely difference experiences.

Why can't people just pray and worship the deity of their choice in their own homes, dwellings or wherever else they choose? Because they have to keep convincing each other it's all real.
Religion stops working when you don't do things like indoctrinate kids and reinforce each other when they start "questioning their faith". Nothing how questioning becomes a bad thing. They need the group to discourage that.

It is silly to think that worshipping alone (Something we do everyday anyway) is the same as being together with a bunch of like minded people at a place for the same purpose and to enjoy each other's company. It's just that it makes sense that people who don;t understand the function of church or don;t want to go shouldn't think too hard on it.

Sports arenas are so they can make money off the game. Same as a church. And I still get a thrill from watching my team in much more comfortable conditions on the couch.

May be enjoyable but it doesn't come near to actually being there. Still there are millions who claim to be supporters and never left their couch to actually support the team.

And again, if one does not want to go to church, one does not need to. And yes, one can do just about anything from the comfort of their couch. That doesn't mean that all confort can be enjoyed from the comfort of your couch. There are other ways to enjoy life and one of those is, again, being around like minded people that share the same beliefs.

What's wrong with social groups for gullible people? Religious meeting places were all people had before computer discussion groups after all. Sure, except for social clubs, sports clubs, pubs, libraries and community centers.

They like to get together to worship. Why would "need' have anything to do with it?

Where else will Goths hang out when the pubs and "gatherings" close?

Religious meeting places were all people had before computer discussion groups after all. Sure, except for social clubs, sports clubs, pubs, libraries and community centers. All those failed to meet the needs of the wider community, including ironically enough "community centers."
