I attended a magnet school in NY. To the best of my recollection, it was tuition-free. That said, I was never aware of any bills or fees outside of lab/studio usage, uniforms, school trips and some ancillary cost around transportation. I was driven to school in the morning but, was tasked with making my way home after school on my own. They have a bill at the beginning of the year for most of the known costs that my Sis has to pay like a Month before. (Everything but the Trips. Those are done if and when they occur). I heard my Asshole Brother in Law bitch about other parents not having to pay it. He's a tightwad that makes 6 figures, but bitches that the family that makes below the poverty line doesn't have to write that check. He's a WAFFLE. Ah, I could see how that could be vexing. My parents never complained about the cost of my education until I went to private school and even then, it was only in comparison to the magnet school. Then again I’ve never really had serious concerns about money in my life and, I was too young to truly see and understand class divisions in middle school.

He got drunk at Christmas and bitched in front of my other Niece (his other daughter) how He had to pay 10,000 a year for her to go to college while "freeloaders" got grants and hand outs from the government. I finally said well do what my parents did. I paid for my school through Loans and Scholarships.(My niece gets about 10k in scholarships) And if they offered to pay and bitched about it around me. I would've still paid for it because fuck that. He was like yeah how much you have to pay? I bet it wasn't 40k. I said no it was 52k (private college) my brother went Yeah 45k for me. It shut him up.

I miss Tobey Peter Parker. He was perfect the way he is and wasn't a hipster douchebag like Andrew Garfield or an Avenger like Holland. #Bringbacktobey!

Is it an expensive school to get into or is it about as free as public school? Magnet schools are generally free to attend. That said, I'm told that they do ask for fees to cover certain types of lab usage. The charges are somewhere in the neighborhood of a few hundred dollars per semester. So, while not 100% free, the cost is still negligible when compared to a private school. Well then there we go. No more of this "Peter is so rich he can attend private school" nonsense.

The more I think about SMH, the more I reconsider my initially favorable thoughts on it. I was mostly blown away by Michael Keaton’s performance and (related) the twist and the ensuing suspense scene in the car—and I think both aspects are still very well-done. But I don’t like the movie’s version of Spider-Man, and the points raised in this thread explain why perfectly.

And think about what Tobey's Parker sacrificed to hold up the weighty mantra of great power/great responsibility.
What does Holland's Parker sacrifice? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I'd also like to say to anyone and everyone that pointing out flaws with the characterization of an MCU character does not make one a "hater" of the MCU.
Please take note of this.

Right, I am done addressing DC-Fan's ad absurdum arguments, I just wanted to set the record straight regarding Peter's education.

Tobey was too dorky and not smart mouthy enough. Garfield was too cool and his humor seemed a bit mean. Holland seems a good middle ground.

Scratch that, he was a total fucking dick.

What exactly did he give up? For the first two movies he sacrifices his relationship with Mary Jane. It's a MAJOR sacrifice at the end of movie one. His friendship with Harry is also destroyed by his duty as Spiderman. The public hates him because of the Daily Bugle so he gets no glory. He loses jobs and fails classes because of his priorities as Spiderman.

What exactly did he give up? Tobey's Parker had to give up a normal life that would've been free from having to carry the weight of the city's problems on his shoulders.

I admit a possible bit of nostalgia, as I grew up with that first movie (my cousin and I probably watched it more than any other superhero flicks), but I recently saw Spider-Man 2 again and thought it was as fantastic as ever.

Spiderman 2 is still my all time favorite comic book movie. I only appreciate it more as time goes on. My favorite is still probably the original Superman, which I’ve loved from the first time I saw it as a kid. (I’m happy I’ve now seen Star Wars, but I wish I would have gotten to enjoy it as a kid, when I got to see Indy and Superman.) But Spider-Man 2 is right up there—probably my next favorite superhero movie.
