Avatar (Avatarded) Anything by Christopher Nolan Any comic book movie Any Die Hard movie (or any like it) I'll go along with Fight Club (disappointing, I love Edward Norton usually) Gee, I bet this goes over well, especially the third item No appreciation at all for the 1st Die Hard?
What didn't you like about it?
Bad guy does something bad. Good guy to the rescue. Good guy has a plan. 34,895,077,801 things could go wrong. 34.895,077.801 things go right for good guy. Yawn.
Found the plot for Plan 9 From Outer Space more plausible than all action films. And I'd rather watch Plan 9 than Die Hard.

I just listed it because it's in the IMDb top 250. I only really hated the bold ones. Cool. I had a question if you can please answer. You have listed The Great Dictator. Did you like or dislike other movies of Chaplin - City Lights, Modern Times, The Gold Rush etc? Love City Lights, really like Gold Rush. But didn't care for Modern Times. Still have more to see.

Love City Lights, really like Gold Rush. But didn't care for Modern Times. Still have more to see. Great. I am a massive fan of Chaplin and believe he was one of the most complete artists ever. He was a great director, composer and actor and I personally believe his contribution to rise of cinema is massive if not unparalleled. I am also a big fan of Buster Keaton. But it is sad that Chaplin is not given as much respect as he deserves. The Circus (1928) is also pretty cool and it seems to be less known among his post 1920s works. I can totally understand people not liking The Great Dictator because that movie doesn't fit into any particular genre. That said I liked two of the scenes in that movie and found the movie to be fairly good.

Of those already mentioned - Fight Club The Matrix The Godfather 1 & 2 Crouching Tiger / Hidden Dragon And I'll add - The Deerhunter (worth mentioning for old times' sake) Goodfellas Solaris (like watching Russian paint dry, in slow motion) The Assassination of Jesse James etc (monumentally dreary soundtrack too) The Last Emperor The Madness Of King George [edited as my brain slipped, probably due to retroactive boredom, I typed Stalker but meant Solaris. I haven't watched the former precisely because I found the latter so life-threateningly tedious] Couldn't agree more with your 'The Deerhunter' pick.
I tried. Numerous times. Who could have thought a film with 2 of my favorite actors - Walken and DeNiro was so abysmal.
In a sense - this is rather unfair of me - because I found the film so dull and boring that I never made it to the end.
Did I miss some type of payoff at the end - i.e. a reason why some people regard this yawnfest as one of the best ever?

I wouldn't pick anyone's list apart. You don't like The Godfather, fine. Children still throw stones at me because I hate The Dark Knight.
But it's always fun to see other do it...

Yeah....People can hold any opinion but I feel aghast when I am told that The Dark Knight is supposedly the 4th greatest movie ever. Like what? Okay, I am runnning away from the The Dark Knight fans.

Horror:
Rosemary's Baby - Boring! (even with the creepy payoff at the end)
The Exorcist. Decent enough flick but III > The original and like the Godfather - I don't get all the over the top love
Nightmare on Elm Street did not age well
Dawn of the Dead (original) - it's a cheesey poorly acted flick with characters you don't care about and another horrible musical score - the remake (2004 - great film) - beats it in every area - i.e. character development, acting, tenseness, comedy in the right spots, musical score, atmosphere....

Comedies:
Animal House Caddyshack
These are considered 2 of our American Classics?
I'm embarrassed - maybe I'm a product of my time but I'll take Old School, Zoolander, Big Daddy, Blades of Glory and a bit before that - The Naked Gun and Airplane over these unfunny duds 8 days out of the week

To be fair, Plan 9's basic plot isn't the worst cheapo horror plot, and I very much enjoy watching it.

Not many agree, but if you can handle a little clowning sentimentality it's really lovely.

"One things for sure, Inspector Clay is dead. MURDERED! And someone's responsible!" "Visits? Why, that would indicate visitors." - The birth of Captain Obvious.

You're talking to the right guy here. I love Ed Wood's entire catalogue. The plot is, undeniably stupid, but they essential concept of aliens creating an army of zombies out of corpses is not the worst 50s horror premise. Just that idea could be in a decent B movie.

I've tried watching Fight Club a couple times, I find it boring beyond belief. Also Citizen Kane. I recognize it for its place in history and the fine cinematography, but I find the actual film boring as f. Also, I find all Star Wars boring. You didn't enjoy the twist at the end of Fight Club at all?
Have owned the book (and movie) for years - it looks like a quick read - will actually have to read it at some point.......own a ton of Chuck Palahniuk books -
I love Fincher but hated that movie, even the ending, I thought it was stupid.

Anything to do with: Lord of the Rings Harry Potter Star Wars Star Trek Pretty much any Super Hero movie ......and find the Godfather series highly overrated although it's grown on me a tad over the years - just don't get all the over the top love it receives. But to each their own - I have favorites others regard as crap (like the cult classic AvP ) I absolutely find Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the rings and Hunger Games so ridiculously boring and I've tried watching all more than once.

Not many agree, but if you can handle a little clowning sentimentality it's really lovely. It was the first Chaplin movie that I saw. Really loved it. 9/10. Yeah, people find weird reasons to dislike great works. Some allege that Chaplin tried too hard to gain public sympathies in that movie.
But it is important to note that it is considered one of the path-breaking movies. It was a smash hit and even though full-length movies had come before it too, it is often cited as one movie that made feature films the gold standard.

I concur with Elaine from Seinfeld - The English Patient was total dross in my eyes.
Also, despite trying my best to like them, I could never get into any of the Star Wars films. I'm more of a Star Trek kinda person.

Star Wars - I just dont get the obsession. They're cheesy and sorry but the acting in them are pretty shit.
Citizen Kane - I've had to watch that movie so much in school. I fuckjng hate it. It's long and it's boring.
Mad Max Fury Road - I didn't get the hype that movie got. It was fine and had some good special effects but I didn't find myself caring about any characters or the story at all. It just never got me invested.
Dumb and Dumber - Jim Carey imo hasnt aged well in terms of his comedy movies. You could insert any of them here and I'd likely say the same thing. This one I remember just being the worst of them. Yet it is so beloved by people.

I’m not sure if it’s considered great but its box office was huge. The Dark Knight Rises was one of the worst pieces of crap I’ve ever seen, and I’m saying that as a huge fan of the first two Nolan Batman movies. I wouldn’t wipe a dog’s ass with that film. I’ve never been more disappointed in a movie than that one, they could have ended it with such awesomeness but instead they chose mediocrity.
