A lot of people? People in the know know why the X-men weren't there. People not in the know know that X-men aren't in the same universe.

It would have been awesome if Strange or Wong open a portal and Hugh Jackman and co. Walked out and joined the battle!
Imagine Wolvie going rage mode on the outriders!

Where was Superman when everything bad was happening anytime ever?

Why stop at the X-Men, was Squirrel Girl unavailable as well? She actually beat Thanos that one time. It would have been awesome if she jumped out of one of the portals during the battle in total squirrel rage mode.

I would imagine it was because Disney didn't own the rights to the characters. Simple really

It's tongue and cheek, or people don't know better. Not that there's anything wrong with the latter. I could see my elderly neighbor asking why Batman never helps Spiderman.
But those questions look tongue and cheek.

First Class and Day of Future Past are not really films that attract new viewers nor are meant to. First Class marketed itself as the origin of several characters from the original trilogy, which is something younger moviegoers are not going to care about. DOFP’s marketing played on the nostalgia of the older films and the return of the original cast. While Apocalypse was a weak movie with weak marketing and that doesn’t inspire newcomers.

Maybe they were fighting Thanos alongside the Avengers, and then in a shocking twist, they were in the Danger Room the whole time.

You'd have to be a special kind of retard to ask such a stupid question. They’re normies, they wouldn’t know any better.

You'd have to be a special kind of retard to ask such a stupid question. Why would they be? The X-Men films are Marvel branded films that a lot of MCU fans never watched.

I think the answer to the question of why people would wonder why they weren't there is maybe this:
Maybe it's because they started putting the flipbook logo in their trailers. I think First Class was the 1st.

Oh they were there. But it was easy to mistake them for Outriders, what with their generic black leather outfits and all. I mean, why do you think Black Widow was given a green vest in IW?

Not when it’s marketed as spin-off of a pre-existing series. You mean like Captain Marvel? Captain Marvel is not really a spin-off. Her movie pretty much has zero connection with any of the other MCU films.
