My main problem with Jacksons Kong isn't the length it's the ott scenes such as the dinosaur stamepe and even worse the fight with the 3 V Rex's. he's been attacked by 3 lethal reptiles yet Fay Wray get's thrown around multiple times and Kong miraculously catches her every time.
then she lands on one of the V Rex heads and doesn't fall off despite the creature moving around trying to bite etc. the whole scene was just ridiculous and cartoonish. same with the stampede where there's people running amongst all these giant creatures and they don't get crushed and even manage a few karate kicks at the dinosaurs. why Jackson thought all that was a good idea i don't know.
I agree with SinisterCreep. Those scenes were way too ott. That, along, with the excessive cute and cuddly factor, and the absurd emotional connection between Anne and the monster are the reasons that I think the original King Kong 33 is a superior movie.
I think King Kong 05 is a great movie but in comparison to the original it pales IMO.
It's a shame about those scenes as the actual design of the film looks great. plus the brontosaurus stampede from what i've read was unfinished as they were rushed. the bits with Jamie Bell running as the ground beneath him crumbles makes him look like he's floating on air. it looks terrible and they should redo those scenes. i was hoping with SI coming out Jackson would give the film a revamp but we're just getting a new box set.
