Never disappoints.

Watching Salem's Lot (1979) which will technically complete the October Challenge for me as my 31st film.
I actually bought it last night on Google Play based on great nostalgia for when I last saw it easily some 20 years ago.
I forgot how much it differs from the book and combines characters/ writes out characters from the book.
I think it was well done for its time but to me it has not aged well.

Under a week to go... and we are entering the home straight. So are we picking up steam, or slowing down... or is it steady as we go?
With Halloween a few days away. Are there any traditional viewings, or themes you tend to stick with for Halloween?

When it's done are you going to list such stats as the movies that were the most watched for the first time, as a repeat viewing, and overall?

Watched a Netflix original called Rattlesnake. After her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake and then miraculously cured by a mysterious woman, the mother must make a sacrificial killing as payment.
This turned out to be a fairly good movie; nicely spooky with an intriguing story that offers some neat little surprises along the way.

But on Halloween day, I will watch movies all day long.

Are there any traditional viewings, or themes you tend to stick with for Halloween? I've completed the challenge already, so now comes the time to hunker down with all my favorites and maybe watch some Halloween themed but not necessarily horror stuff. Last week's Bob's Burgers, for example, was a great seasonal watch. Likewise, I'll be jamming some Tales From the Crypt, Twilight Zone and -- for good measure -- Scooby Doo.

Are there any traditional viewings, or themes you tend to stick with for Halloween? I’ve slowed down a bit. But I did have some days earlier that were purely devoted to watching movies. So I was able to chalk up a few 3 movie days. Lately I’ve been busier unfortunately.

Been a bit unwell as of late and have been lacking the motivation to watch movies as a result. Plan on watching a few more in the run up to Halloween though. And in stark contrast to most years, I plan on continuing to watch horror in November (though obviously not as part of the challenge).

Anyone have a running theme this year? Mine seems to be sinister cults. Ready Or Not, Rosemary's Baby, Midsommar, Kill List, Suspiria, etc.
I've got 10 movies to do in 3 days. 6 FTVs.

Mine was/is Hammer. I have been sitting on a ton of unwatched Blu/DVDs and now seemed like as good a time as any. I've watched 13 of them so far.

The Cat and the Canary (1927) (Fist time viewing) Horror Level: None This film is more of a comedy than a horror. I don't know if the goofy makeup job in this movie ever scared anyone but it didn't scare me. It made me laugh. Some creepy stuff happened but it was thrown out the window when you saw what the supposed monster looks like. But I laughed at the movie's jokes. Not a classic but I'd probably watch it again some October. 7/10. Ju-on (2002)Horror Level: High Probably the scariest movie of the night. This is even creeper than what I remember. I remembered the security video and it still scared me. It's kind of hard to follow sometimes because this like an anthology film but all the stories are in the same place and about the same monster. I'd recommend this to anyone. 8/10. Rosemary's Baby (1968)Terror Level: Medium This movie has one of the best movie endings. You really feel for Rosemary in the film. When Rosemary was drugged is the horror highlight of the film. 8/10. Onibaba (1964) (First time viewing) Horror Level: Low I found this on horror lists online and there's a couple horror elements in this. Some moments are suspenseful. But it's not all that scary. This is more of a drama. If you're expecting something really scary like the lists built this up as you're going to be disappointed. La maschera del demonio (1960)Horror Level: Low This is a fun movie to watch. Barbara Steele is hot. The practical effects were great. 8/10. Busanhaeng (2016)Terror Level: High I have two copies of this movie. One I bought and another that I got through Horror Pack. I must have gotten my Horror Pack copy because the subtitles were off the screen and I couldn't fix it. This movie isn't as fun watching dubbed in English than it is in Korean. And it was the voice actors. They had people doing anime girl voices. The big huge guy didn't have a strong deep voice. Whatever this movie is really fun to watch. A train is a really interesting setting for a horror film and it's not used that often. The only other one off the top of my head was a Christopher Lee film. And it wasn't done with zombies. And the ending the first time got me to tear up. The dubbing this time though ruined it for me. Anyway I gave the movie with the original voices 9/10. Hellraiser (1987)Terror Level: High This is a creepy film. It's weird Pinhead became the icon even though he didn't deliver much of the scares in this film. I guess it's like Jason and Friday The 13th. I still don't get the ending. I seen the second but I don't remember if the homeless dude transforming into a dragon is explained. I guess I don't like it because it allowed this movie to become a series. I rate this one a 7/10 and I think I liked the second one more. But everything after that is trash. The Wicker Man (1973)Terror Level: Low This is a really interesting film. I remember not liking Sergeant Howie because he's pushing his religion as better than the people on this island. But watching this time I caught that he didn't do it until they gave him reasons to freak out and after he found out they lied to him. And him ranting like he does is understandable when they're carrying him off to his death. The story is fun and crazy. It's more suspenseful than horrifying. The highlight was the parade and the final scene. 8/10.

But as for movie stats I’m not too sure.

I don’t have any films I stick to, but I always try to squeeze in on Halloween day; Garfield’s Halloween Special, South Park’s Pinkeye & Millennium’s The Curse of Frank Black.

Yeah it’s no fun when you’re pushing yourself to watch something when not in the mood. I usually take a horror break for the first week or two of November and catch-up on stuff sitting on my shelf. Probably check out some straight-up comedies like House Party, My Cousin Vinny & The Swinging Cheerleaders. However I’m going to a Horror/cult film festival this coming weekend. So my break is getting pushed back.

Watched the Pet Sematary remake.
Pointless, soulless garbage, with no redeeming qualities... Even Pascow the friendly ghost is rubbish.
Stick with the original.

Most of my collection is still on DVD. What titles are on offer in that cult film festival you're headed to?

Was deciding between 3 choices for a film to watch: Satanic Panic, Crawl, Scary Stories t Tell in the Dark. Chose Satanic Panic because 1) I'm not too into animal based horror films and 2) there might just be a certain scene in Scary Stories that I'm really not in the mood to see. Process of elimination I guess.

I'm watching the 1979 Dracula. Young Frank Langella is reminding me a lot of Adam Driver.
