Now that’s pretty heartless, he wouldn’t do that.

Yes. While Thor wasn't allowed to change history by warning his mother of her impending death, Steve Rogers (being then selfish asshole that he is) used time travel to change history and take Peggy Carter away from the man she was supposed to marry and thus ensure that Peggy Carter's children with the man she was supposed to marry will never be born. Innocent children permanently erased from history forever because Steve Rogers was a selfish asshole.

The first timeline in which Peggy marries her unknown husband still exists, but Steve going back in time to marry Peggy and the subsequent events (if left unchanged) that led into the Decimation would eventually create a time loop. 2023 Steve would grow old, but the Steve Rogers thawed from ice would time-travel back to the 1940s after Thanos's defeat and the loop starts anew.

When a male or female picks a mate they are essentially preventing any other hypothetical children from being born from other mates. We're getting real philosophical here, DC Fan!

And there's the big difference! You're talking about "hypothetical" children who never existed. In this case, Peggy Carter supposedly married another man and had children with the man she married. Those were real children with real names who were born and really did exist, until Steve Rogers decided to be a selfish asshole and permanently erase them from ever existing.

Last I checked they never actually revealed the identity of Peggy's husband or her kids, so there's nothing really there to argue that Steve changed anything, contrary to what DC-Fan is saying.

No because the movie establishes that one can NOT alter their own history, if Peggy had kids with another man in the timeline Cap knew as his own he could not alter that, it's either a separate timeline or Cap was always meant to go back and be with Peggy to keep the timeline in tact.

Some people still don't understand how alternate timelines work? SMH.
Fear not! Peggy Carter's marriage and children remained unaffected in the original timeline. Steve Rogers time with her occurred in an alternate timeline with an alternate Peggy Carter. No harm, no foul.
