British actor Leslie Randall has left us at the age of 95, announced on August 2nd. He had a lengthy career, but possibly his most important role was with his wife in Joan and Leslie, ITV's first home-grown situation comedy. He also appeared in the 1963 film version of Billy Liar where he played Danny Boon, and as Reggie Wilkie in episodes of Emmerdale, 1999–2000, as well as episodes of The Monkees, and I Dream of Jeannie. American actor Reni Santoni has left us at the age of 81, on August 1st. His first leading role was as a young actor in Enter Laughing 1967. Other film roles included Inspector "Chico" González in 1971's Dirty Harry, Carl Reiner's comedic homage to the film noir genre, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid 1982, as prison official Ramon Herrera in Bad Boys 1983, and as Detective Tony Gonzales in the action film Cobra 1986. American journalist, novelist, essayist, editor and screenwriter Peter Hamill has left us at the age of 85, on August 5th. He penned the screenplay for Doc 1971, a revisionist Western that starred Stacy Keach and Harris Yulin as frontier lawmen Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, respectively. He also co-wrote Badge 373 1973, a crime thriller that starred Robert Duvall, and did an uncredited rewrite on French Connection II 1975. He had writing credits on several TV-movies, and his novels Flesh and Blood, The Gift and Snow in August were adapted for TV movies. In 1975, he won a Grammy for writing the liner notes to Bob Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks". He is remembered by Hollywood ReporterR.I.P. Peter Hamill

American composer and songwriter Billy Goldenberg has left us at the age of 84, on August 3rd. He composed the music for over 190 movies and television productions between 1947 and 2017, including the TV-themes for Kojak, Alias Smith and Jones, Banacek, Rhoda and Our House. His film work includes Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam 1972, Streisand's Up the Sandbox 1972, The Last of Sheila 1973, Busting 1974, Reuben, Reuben 1983 and 18 Again! 1988. He served as the musical director on NBC's audience-grabbing Elvis: The Comeback Special in 1968. He collected 23 Emmy nominations during his career, winning for his miniseries work in 1975 for CBS' The Lives of Benjamin Franklin and in 1978 for NBC's King. Maybe best known for his performances on Broadway in Parade as Leo Frank and Kiss of the Spider Woman as Molina, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 1993. British-born American theater critic, playwright, singer, editor, and translator Eric Bentley has left us at the age of 103, on August 5th. American executive editor and screenwriter Kurt Luedtke has left us at the age of 80, on August 9th. He was executive editor of the Detroit Free Press. He was also noted for writing Out of Africa 1985, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also wrote Absence of Malice 1981, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, as well as Random Hearts 1999. All three films were directed by Sydney Pollack. American model and early television star Mary Hartline has left us at the age of 92, on August 12th. In 1949, the ABC television network picked up the local show, Super Circus, where her looks and figure made her a national star and a sex symbol for thousands of boys, young and old. Her role was as the ringmaster's assistant. Super Circus was a hit, put on the cover of TV Guide, and was produced in Chicago through 1955. There was also dolls.
