I already told you. The bad guy lays it out pretty straightforward that crops are sprayed with mutant gene suppressors, thus mutants dying out. Wolverine's age is a side effect of his failing healing/regenerative abilities. And Xavier had dementia, but "nutter" is a very nice word choice. Good on you. Logan isn't anything like a revenge thriller, "revenge" isn't even a factor in anything in the movie. On the other hand: Joker, which I presume you voted for, is all about a guy getting back at a world that's shat on him and was clearly inspired by stuff like Taxi Driver and Death Wish. More great irony. I think he is referring to the "revenge" against the reavers by necessity. Self defense isn't really revenge.

Wolverine can't age. He's immortal. For me I need to know where were the other mutants, why was Xavier all of a sudden a nutter, where was Magneto and what happened to Xavier's school. Logan tried to be an edgy movie by parachuting into an already established world without laying the proper foundations first for proper Xmen fans and not just gritty revenge thriller fanboys. I think he is referring to the "revenge" against the reavers by necessity. Self defense isn't really revenge. Hence the quotes. It is for the audience. For me anyway, it gives me the same feeling as revenge movies, even if it is done through self-defense. It is clearly more personal for the little girl than just self-defense. If I was able to take out my rage through brutal self-defense on someone who has experimented on me and enslaved me, I would enjoy myself quite a bit I think.

It's the same feeling for any movie where the hero defeats the bad guy and you actually care. John McClane seems to enjoy himself too but I wouldn't call Die Hard a revenge movie. I'm sure we can both agree calling Logan a revenge thriller in a thread comparing it to Joker of all things is ironic at least.

Joker. I was one of six people that wasn't a fan of Logan. I wonder who are the other 5?

I looovee both and it’s really hard to choose since they’re great for vastly different reasons. I’ll give the edge to Joker since it’s less problematic.

Joker. I liked Logan though. It's not my go to comic book movie but it's really good.

Logan changed the rules and I am fine with that. It is about old age, reflection and death as moviebuffbrad said. Charles Xavier has something akin to dementia. most of the mutants have been killed off by the reavers.
It's been awhile since I've seen the flick... so, I might have it wrong... but: I thought it was implied that most of the mutants being dead was due to Professor X's dementia causing him to lose control of his powers and causing psychic waves of destruction.. and killing them.

Logan is far and away better. It actually has a point.

I don't remember that. I thought the movie was simply going in a more "realist" direction with his character. His age effecting his powers, though I don't know exactly how that would work in his case. Like Professor X, whose powers are also effected by age in the movie. That’s neither movie nor comic book canon...that wolverine can’t age. Otherwise he’d look 13 forever.

Maybe his immortal powers kicked in at a certain age, the point is he remained the same for 200 years then all of a sudden Logan changed that.

Logans mutant powers didn't activate til he was about 13. His aging is slowed, but not stopped. Logan is partly based off the Old Man Logan comics...wherein Wolverine is an older version of himself.

Logan (mainly because the ending packed an emotional punch for me).
I dug Joker as well (just not as much as Logan)
