Kittle should have gotten the ball more too. Kittle only caught 4 passes (36 yards) the whole game?? WTF??
I feel like that's becoming an annual sub-plot. Losing teams outcoaching themselves. Winning teams need their best players to be their best players.
And plus, it's easy to play Monday quarterback and say "well they should have done this or that" but I'm not sure what kind of defenses the Chiefs were running but they were probably double teaming Kittle and making someone else beat them.
But yeah, to win big games like this you need big plays and it just didn't happen at the right time for the 9ers.

San Francisco 49ers now've a winless SB streak, albeit just 2 games. That's a weird fact I'd not have envisioned years ago.

Has the CFP title game become more electrifying than the SB?
I feel like the CFP semi-finalist winners have made that game much more chaotically exciting. The 2 teams are beyond fully rested, not gone through a full playoff gauntlet.

Yeah, the 9ers dominated when there was no salary cap.

I don't get San Francisco throwing a bomb and completing it right before the half. And then kneeling on the ball. But Kansas City is making it hard on themselves throwing two interceptions. The bomb was called back due to offensive PI. Thanks. I was watching with other people, people were talking, the sound was off. We were all wondering what happened.

Chiefs get the win 31-20, great game. Excellent job by the Chiefs coming back from down 10, Mahomes bounced back great after throwing the 2 INT’s and made some great plays and led the Chiefs on 2 TD drives and the Chiefs recievers got the better of the Niners secondary and the Chiefs started dominating at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Niners offense completely stalled in the second half, their play calling became predictable, Garoppolo was off and they couldn’t get anything going, they never got Kittle involved enough and the Chiefs did a nice job of limiting their rushing attack. It was an exciting Super Bowl from start to finish overall, congratulations to the Chiefs on their championship. Maybe the Chiefs' defense had something to do with the 49er offense stalling in the 4th quarter.

I wanted him for the Giants.

Niners 22 rushing attempts were the fewest for a team averaging over 6 yards a carry.

Niners 22 rushing attempts were the fewest for a team averaging over 6 yards a carry. To be fair the reason their yards per carry was so high is because of a couple of long runs on sweeps from Samuel, the Chiefs defense did a solid job limiting their RB’s. But yeah I think they should’ve run it more, I remember twice late in the game the Niners had a 2nd and 5 and Garoppolo proceeded to throw back to back incompletions and they had to punt, if they had run the ball, they might’ve gotten 1st downs.

So did plenty of other head coaches the first time around. Then some of those guys go on to be assistants and coordinators at other on other coaching staffs, continue to prove they're quality coaches, and get another chance at being a head coach in a different and, they hope, better situation. And some very successful head coaches have had that trajectory.

I think unlike the Saints, the Chiefs have a good defensive backfield (pass defense). They could afford to concentrate on the 9er running game. And the 49ers couldn't compensate. I was at a Super Bowl party, TVs were on, sound was off, people were talking, eating and drinking, so I couldn't pay real close attention. But I seem to remember the 9er running game bogging down before they started passing a lot (unsuccessfully) in the 4th quarter. Maybe the Chiefs made adjustments that cut off the 9er running game. That could be a reason why they stopped running.

Yes the Chiefs do have a solid pass defense, adding in Tyrann Mathieu was huge for them, he made their secondary a lot better. They also did a good job of covering Kittle, I still think the Niners should’ve tried to get him more involved but they limited him.
