Countries like Singapore are starting to get their second wave. In some ways I'm okay with this because the waves aren't too far apart = = as long as there aren't substantial third and fourth waves.
Singapore reports biggest jump in cases amid second wave of infections
Another 142 coronavirus infections were recorded in Singapore on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health, bringing the country's total number of confirmed cases to 1,623.
That's the largest jump in new cases yet in the city, which has been struggling to contain a second wave of infections brought back from Europe.
Most of the new cases are from local clusters, the ministry said. Just two came from outside the city, while 72 are waiting for contact tracing to determine how they were infected.

I agree. And obesity is most often the result of not exercising and eating correctly. Lots of people never exercise at all. But they love carbohydrates, fat, salt, sugar, and fried foods. And they eat those foods too much. I love all that bad stuff - - but I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables as well.  Dieticians say that exercise does very little when it comes to weight, but it does seem to help a lot with health. I eat more than I should but I get a good deal of exercise, and my doctors have seemed pretty satisfied with me all things considered. I eat everything also. And I love it too. But I've always exercised. I'm not stupid. I know if everyone did everything right, some people would still struggle with their weight. But you and I know, most people don't eat and exercise right. That's why there is an obesity problem in most 1rst world countries. And, diabetes, heart problems, hypertension, liver problems, lung problems, etc.

I think Sweden had tightened up its policies to some extent a day after or on the same day you shared the BBC article. It is very difficult to make any comparison because it depends on various factors such as density of population of cities, social interaction behaviours and healthcare system of countries among many other factors. But I will give out some raw figures now with a warning that no conclusion can be made whatsoever. Sweden has 8,419 cases Rest of Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway) + Finland has 13,931 cases Sweden has 687 deaths Rest of Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway) + Finland has 359 deaths Sweden has conducted 54,700 tests so far (which has actually increases sharply as 2 or 3 days back they had conducted very few tests) Rest of Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway) + Finland has 214398 tests Sweden's population is 10.33 millions Denmark's population is 5.82 millions Norway's population is 5.36 millions Finland's population is 5.52 millions Yeah, given the differences in testing rates between nations, population densities, when borders were properly closed down etc it's very hard to draw any conclusions. I guess in a year or two data will be available for various countries deaths per month, and hopefully we'll get that at city level as well. Then we can compare against average rates in preceding years and make judgements as to where Coronavirus hit the hardest based upon percentage above average death rates. That may give us some indication as to whether or not Sweden was particularly hard hit and whether lockdowns did have a strong positive impact.

Has anyone else noticed that when the press show pictures of people that are battling the virus or who have sadly died with no underlying health issues the pictures are of over weight people. Isn't obesity and a health condition? 'Don't tread on my french fries & poutine pancakes' liberty crews ftw. I see Canada's last 3 days of new cases are averaging about 7.6%, down from 11.5% the 3 days prior. More testing is demanded though to keep numbers accurate - which in turn will likely push the numbers higher for a bit, but also to keep on top of things. Toronto's lead doctor, advising municipality/city, is suggesting another 12 weeks at least of current social distancing & extreme minimal exposure via grocery runs &/or walks outdoors. July again as goalpost, which I hope can be realistic. That is for the city proper, I'm just outside suburb; rural Ontario &/or other locales of course will have their own specific recommendations. Thankfully, I've grown into somewhat of a structured iso-routine. Wake-up til' noon'ish, online vids/films, news. Noon-dinner walks, video games, movies, podcasts. Dinner-midnight- exercise, retro sports, podcasts. 12am+ read myself to sleep.

Came across 4 women joggers this morning at 6:30am jogging next to each other.
Trail can't be more than 6 feet wide in length.
Just selfish and ignorant. Is it that hard to exercise alone as we've been asked to social distance in this health crisis?
As I approached getting closer and closer - I just decided to head back to my car instead of running in their stream of breath molecules - headed to a trail in another part of the suburbs and only came across 3 ignorant joggers this time jogging together.

It's like a game of chicken out there - i.e. who's going to be the one to jump on the grass/brush first.
Me I just decide to distance myself as far as I possibly can when I see somebody coming - but I'd appreciate the other pedestrian/biker/jogger doing the same if they can - at least give me a thank you nod.

I've begun just walking in the street along the curb with oncoming dogs & smartphone texters. There's no traffic, my 1-2 hour walks are primarily residential, quiet even in normal times. I got an 'On your right' from a kid on a bike yesterday, barreling by. I only heard/saw him last sec cuz my earbuds.

When you got your 'On Your Right' - did the biker make sure when passing not to quickly cut directly right back in front of you? i.e. put a little distance inbetween him/her and yourself?
I pretty much deal with this every morning out by my way - i.e. almost getting clipped by a biker - who zooms right past you no further than a 1 foot away from you and immediately goes right in front of you.
It's all about common courtesy folks.
I wish there were more people in the world like myself.

The obnoxious people on the bike paths are the guys who think they're training for the Tour de France. They think they own the bike trails out on the Cape, they'll yell at people for not getting out of their way.

I gave them both the 'Stare of Death' - shaking my head in disgust as they passed me.
Let's see them sleep that off tonight as they toss and turn in their beds wringing their hands with guilt.

Cyclists are absolutely the worst people I have experienced whilst out during these times.
On multiple occasions now I have been running on a road in the direction of oncoming traffic, giving the swerve to people walking on the pavement, when not even the first but the second or third cyclist whizzing past (having seen me from way further back up the road), has refused to move further out into the road to give me safe space and shouted at me. It's unbelievable because they've actually seen bikes in front of them moving over a few seconds before!
I think it's these militant cyclist guys you see banging and shouting at cars for not giving them space struggling to find someone to get angry at now there are hardly any cars on the road...

That's funny, I don't remember the speech where Greta Thunberg was shaming the good people of Jalandhar about climate change. Guess I missed that one. 🤔

That's funny, I don't remember the speech where Greta Thunberg was shaming the good people of Jalandhar about climate change. Guess I missed that one. 🤔 It is called availability bias. People usually believe knowledge that comes readily to mind is the most representative. Greta doesn't know much outside of the western world so she cites western world as the main culprit of spreading pollution. Indian leftists many of whom pretend to care for environment just to get attention tend to blame pollution on Hindus who burn cracker on one Diwali night in the year. The Indian leftists usually mix their political agenda with their concern for pollution and mostly the main cause cited are Hindus. Tends to happen in most places that leftists blame majority. It is how leftist philosophy works. By the way, Carbon emission per capita for the USA is 8 times higher than that for India.

Carbon emissions may be worse here, but I don't see anywhere here that looks anything remotely close to that picture you posted. But at least you can see the mountains in the background for now. Enjoy the view while it lasts!

Enjoy the view while it lasts! The reason why you don't see anywhere like that in the US is that USA is 3 times bigger than India and has just 25% population of India. That means India's population density is about 12 times that of the US. US factories are more spread out. That said, I am pretty sure India will eventually overtake the US is emitting greenhouse gasses. In fact, I I think that may happen in just 15-20 years.
