My latest 2020 purchase is "Metal Commando" by PRIMAL FEAR. I can scarcely believe that this is the band's thirteenth studio album, and the sixth one I've bought, but they have yet to appear in any of my Rock/Metal Album Releases threads - until now. However the reason for that is simple. PRIMAL FEAR is one of my all-time favorite bands. February 6th, 2008 is a date that will forever live in my personal history. It was the date that I discovered '80s Metal from the 21st Century in general, and PRIMAL FEAR in particular. As such, I hold PRIMAL FEAR to a higher standard than most bands. Since I already own a large portion of their discography, each new PRIMAL FEAR album I buy has to be truly inspired to earn a place in my music collection. The last such album to do so was "Delivering the Black" (2014). But I am pleased to report that "Metal Commando" clears the high bar I set for it, and several music reviewers agree. For example, Dead Rhetoric notes, "The record flows from first note to last without a drop in quality – and that's not easy to achieve when you have been at this for decades." I particularly like the review from Amps and Green Screens: I've linked to a sample PRIMAL FEAR song, and also their entire 2020 album, in the first post of this thread. |

HYPERION's debut was one of my favorite 2017 albums, and my latest 2020 purchase is their sophomore effort "Into the Maelstrom". The reviewer at Dead Rhetoric gave the album a 9/10 rating and wrote: I've linked to a sample HYPERION song, and also their entire 2020 album, in the first post of this thread. |
