The Defenders trailer looks pretty bad

The trailer is finally here. I am pumped.
Also, we can agree to disagree I guess. You said Kingpin was poorly developed, which is seriously a laughable comment. Fisk and Punisher blow away every character on the CW DC shows put together. Seriously. There is no comparison between these shows. Comparing a show like Arrow, Supergirl, or Flash to shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones is a complete joke. The Marvel Netflix shows are so much better in every way. I understand there are opinions and it is all subjective, but the quality difference is hilarious.
The Defenders is made by the Daredevil people so I hope it is good. Iron Fist was the only misstep and even that was done better than a show like Arrow. CW makes teeny soap-opera crap. I watched the shows for a while. Flash had its charms, even if it is mindless cheese. That is closest to Iron Fist, the weakest of the Netflix stuff. Arrow is a serious joke now. Season one was okay but it has gone downhill ever since to the point where it is a teen soap now.

The CW can make some serious stuff that captivates you. I've been enjoying Reign and the 100.

The CW can make some serious stuff that captivates you. I've been enjoying Reign and the 100. I never tried Reign, but watched the first five episodes of The 100 and just couldn't get into it. I like the CW for what it is. I like Arrow and the Flash, at least I used to. I also watched Smallville. However, the channel is pure cheese. Everything they make is cheese and targeted towards a certain demographic, teenagers. Nothing wrong with that, but comparing any of those shows to a masterwork like Daredevil or Jessica Jones is hilarious.

DSDSquaredAgain, we just disagree. Kingpin was boring & derivative. They should have just played him as simple villain rather than fake his complexity. Murdock was enough for that. I loved Punisher for what he was but, like Negan in TWD, he talks to the point of annoyance. I'm starting to think is a way for shows to stretch out the episodes since ah they say isn't particularly profound.

The whole kill or be killed dynamic in that show is great considering they have to apply it to whole groups of people.

Saw the Defenders trailer.
Weaver is interesting addition. Otherwise, it looks fairly generic.
One thing I never understood is why they bother to keep them in the same Marvel Universe as the movies.
If New York is in trouble, surely it is a matter of time before Iron Man or Spidey comes swooping down to save the day.
Fort that matter, it would be great if they could allow the Defenders characters to cameo in a Marvel movie if not the other way around.

I wish they could, but Marvel Movie studios is separate from their television, even if the television series pretend they are in the same world. Kind of strange. You just have to look past it. It happens in the movies too. Why is Thor fighting an invading army on live TV and no Avengers come to help? That is just one example, but it happens every movie.

I just wish they would treat them as distinctly different. They don't need each other

None of the stuff that happened in the Netflix shows was big enough or noticeable enough to get the attention of the Big League Heroes. That's why none of them showed up. We don't know how big this thing in Defenders will be, possibly it will be small enough to not be noticed.

Bump. For no reason really. I am sure more people will join the thread when Defenders airs.

I adore all of the Netflix Marvel shows. I am one of the few that thought Jessica Jones was the best of the shows. I also want to say as a woman myself,Jessica kicks ass in the female empowerment and angst department. Though I do watch Supergirl she is such a sad excuse for a strong woman. Since she met Mon El she has become all about him.
I love how each show connects and yet has it's very own feel.

Jessica Jones spends much of the series in angst and fear over a man that she already broke herself free from.
Her friends had far more gumption without any superpowers
Female empowerment was basically reduced to her having rough sex with Luke Cage and breaking a guys neck.

They would capture Kilgrave and he would get away. He would capture Jessica and she would get away. It was like they ran out of ideas, but there were still about five episodes left.

It's a problem a lot of the Netflix shows suffer from. They usually run out of steam when there's either 1/3 or 1/2 the series left to go. Same thing happened to Luke Cage, while Iron Fist didn't get GOOD until the second half. The only one to avoid this so far is Daredevil.

There was nothing strong about her character except that was her superpower.
If it makes me odd to point out the obvious, then I'm odd.
To be fair, I'm not anti-Marvel, just aware of their flaws - cheap, not very deep which wouldn't be a big deal if not for the fact that they think they're deep, & darker than necessary.
I have repeatedly said she had the best viallin and at least the show wasn't as bad as Iron Fist.

All of them run into this because they insisted on making 13 episodes for a storyline that can't support it.
If they treated the show like a typical comic book show, they could have done 20 episodes, but instead they picked light storylines so they could pad them with manufactured angst and setup for the Defenders show.

Luke Cage could've ended in episode 7 with Cottonmouth's arrest, and Jessica Jones would've worked if they hadn't started doing the Kilgrave plot until episode 3 or 4 with the first episodes being Jessica just working a case. Hell, Iron Fist would've ended fine in episode 12 with Harold being the villain of S2. Instead they had to do episode 13 and kill him off permanently.

Love Daredevil and Iron Fist,Luke Cage was goo but the writing at times was bad and Jessica Jones I didn't like. Look Foward to seeing Punisher and Defenders.
Flash is a good DC show and Supergirl is better than I thought. Arrow has been a letdown and Lot is terrible. The shows are better than the movies, Mos is the exception of course. Can't wait for the black lightning show.
