Braves bring back Marcell Ozuna on a 4-year, $65m contract, with a 5th year option. I guess the Braves feel that the universal DH will be here before long because whereas he once was a viable outfielder with a strong arm, he currently grades out as one of the worst outfielders in the game, and only appeared in 20 games in the outfield last year. Still, he's so good offensively, I guess it doesn't matter. Do you think the book has been written yet on NL DH this year? I know it wasn't passed in the most recent negotiating for 7 inning doubleheaders and extra inning runners on second base, but do you think there may still be some negotiating with that one?

I haven't seen anything official, but most NL teams are operating as if there isn't a DH this year in the NL, which leads me to believe that the owners and the league have an understanding. As it's already February 13, it would be pretty obnoxious for MLB to suddenly adopt the universal DH rule, and the union would have an absolute shit fit because it would have doubled the amount of teams lining up for guys like Nelson Cruz, Eddie Rosario, etc. I'm an anti-universal DH guy as I like the NL style of play but it's only a matter of time. I'd be shocked if it weren't permanently implemented for next season.

his nymag profile was epic: nymag.com/intelligencer/2015/03/matt-harvey-mets-superstar.htmlIan Schrager wants Matt Harveyβs workout advice. Itβs a moment of insider New York cross-pollination, an elder luminary of the cityβs social whirl reaching out across the years and the generations to a virile, rising boldfaced name. Indirectly, anyway. The connection between Schrager and Harvey is made through a pair of scissors held by Larry Raspanti, who is snipping Harveyβs thick black hair. βIan wants to work out the way the real athletes do it,β Raspanti says. βYouβve heard of Ian?β Harvey hasnβt. Studio 54? Yes, that rings a bell, even with a 25-year-old from small-town Connecticut. Schrager is another Raspanti client. The stylist fills in a bit of his bio: β70s disco impresario turned boutique-hotel mogul. Raspanti, as much human hyperlink as barber, has a subterranean West Village salon, ΒWhittemore House, with touches like stenciled walls, an espresso bar, and framed Helmut Newton photos. Harvey, reclining, his hair still glistening from a vigorous shampooing, wants to be helpful. βI can ask around,β he says, βbut my trainers are Boras guys and they donβt really work with people who arenβt pro athletes.β

Speaking of farms, announced last week the Buffalo Bisons remaining the Jays AAA squad for another 8(?) years now... as part of MLB's new Triple A East. Triple A East now has 20 MLB farms, Triple A West has 10. Triple A East is Northeast, Midwest, & Southeast. Triple A West is East & West lols Manfred btw, the Blue Jays will likely be playing 2021 out of Dunedin, in their new reno'd TD Ballpark... Fantasy players should heed the Florida summer heat. Normally the Jays are a power team, that could change a bit this year.

Like how El Paso is the Triple A affiliate and San Antonio is the Double A affiliate. San Antonio has a metro area of 1.4 million more people than El Paso, though. Meanwhile, the Padres' High Single A affiliate is Fort Wayne. In fact, they've been a Padres' affiliate for 22 years, which is the all-time record for a Padres minor league relationship. I wonder if there is a small population of Padres fans in Fort Wayne, Indiana, two cities who otherwise would seem to have nothing in common.

Is El Paso closer to SD than SA? It is by about eight hours driving. It's just weird that San Antonio is a Double A team based on population. Probably the second largest Double A city is Tulsa, and San Antonio is three times the population of Tulsa, let alone Double A towns like Kodak, Tennessee; Bowie, Marlyand; or Manchester, New Hampshire.
