Robinson Cano apparently is suspended for 2021 after a failed drug test. PED drug test. $24 million forfeited. Mets probably doctored his food.

Happy Holidays what? The $2 Billion figure is being disputed by numerous with estimates coming in the actual figure is actually -
145-186 million

$186M to $2B is quite the exaggeration. Time for a new owner?

Hopefully they don't trade away Lux or May. I'm interested in how the World Series win makes them treat the farm system/young players - - are they more or less likely to deal prospects in the short term?

MLB is reworking all the minor league affiliations. These ignorant motherfuckers. Two teams that were in independent leagues, Sugar Land Skeeters, for Houston and St. Paul Saints, for the Twins, are now AAA. Sugar Land has a stadium that seats barely 7000. Why, you might ask. MLB says distance. So where was Houston's AAA last year? Honolulu? Ulan Bator, Mongolia? No, Round Rock. Buffalo has no affiliation yet. The Bisons could be AAA, low A or out altogether.
These CUNTS are trying to destroy the minors. Pure and simple. The Minors have worked for baseball for 150 years, But yeah, fuck it over. Then wonder why there's no baseball fans outside of major league cities and why baseball ranks lower than competitive taffy pulling in popularity and why there next TV deal will be paid out in nickels

The only thing I can think of maybe these small little teams are in trouble financially and it makes sense to get gobbled up by an MLB team where they have full control or am I off?
I may have the leagues wrong; however there's a couple of teams not far from me (if they still exist) - The Lancaster Barnstormers and the Camden Riversharks - think they did (or do) play in the 'Atlantic League' (could be off though ) I'd imagine it's hard during these times to turn a profit

MLB's official excuse is travel costs. And they do have a point. The Nashville Sounds play in the Pacific Coast League. There's no AA on the west coast, no High A in the midwest. But, to my understanding, the minor league teams pay for teams to travel. The only time a major league team has to cough up a ticket if if they call a player up. Guess what, it the Twins call up a player and the St. Paul Saints are playing in Syracuse, they still have to pay. What it really is, they want 100% control over players. MLB has floated the idea of killing the minors altogether and just doing player development at their Florida and Arizona complexes. They believe that if they control the players, big injuries will go away. Hello, pitchers will still suffer ACL tears and still have to have Tommy John surgery. This is incredibly short sighted. Baseball fans are not just made in Philadelphia and LA but in Buffalo, Rancho Cucamonga and Batavia. Baseball big issue is reaching out to younger fans. And the minors do that well with promotions, cheaper tickets and a better fan experience.
The Atlantic League is a solid league. Owners aren't reaping 10 figure profits but they do well. The league has been around since 1998 with little help from the majors. But, MLB had exiled two minor leagues, The New York-Penn League and the Northwest League, They are now "independent" and are in competition with the existing Indy's

You know a lot more about this than I do, and you raise some great points. Informative stuff. I can only speak from experience - the minor leagues I've gone to (in New Orleans during my Louisiana days, and on eastern Long Island) were a ton of fun. For families and people who don't want to spent over $100 to watch a game, it's a great alternative and a much more fan-engaged atmosphere.

For families and people who don't want to spent over $100 to watch a game, it's a great alternative and a much more fan-engaged atmosphere. The Minors are a lot more fun. I seen Josh Hamilton's first professional game for Hudson Valley in Jamestown, NY. We spent about 40 minutes bullshitting with Neil Allen when he was pitching coach for St. Catherines in the NY-P League. Seen so many great players before they made the majors. Stephe Strasburg, Bryce Harper, Vlad Jr. Seen Ozzie Canseco put a ball onto the I-90, that fucker had to go nearly 600 feet. Batting practice in Buffalo is great, players are always interacting with fans. And, all the minors I've been to have tried to be kid friendly. I see too many big league parks that have "play zones" where the kids play on slides and pay zero attention to the game. Yeah, that'll make future fans. MLB really really needs to reach out to younger fans. No doubt it's behind football and basketball in popularity. The sport can't drop any further. It depends now on the silly TV money it gets from Extra Innings package. I've read a lot of articles that say when those TV deals are to be renegotiated, they will be halved, at least

Phillies listening to offers for RHP Zack Wheeler - whom they just signed last offseason to an enormous contract
Wow
No Realmuto - and now Wheeler is available
Love to be in Bryce Harper's head right now to see what he thinks about all of this - he's been politicking all year about signing Realmuto - now this
