American actress Marie Harmon has left us at the age of 97, on January 25th. R.I.P. Marie Harmon
Thank you for remembering Marie Harmon, mother of actress Sondra Currie, and twin sisters and singer-songwriters Cherie Currie and Marie Currie. There's a nice interview with Harmon at Western Clippings. Great lady.

American screenwriter and television producer Allan Burns has left us at the age of 85, on January 30th. Perhaps best known for creating and writing for the television sitcom The Munsters as well as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda, both of which he created and wrote for alongside James L. Brooks. His screenplay for the movie A Little Romance 1979 was Oscar nominated. He was nominated for Emmy Awards 12 times, winning for He & She 1967, The Mary Tyler Moore Show 1970, 1975, 1976 and 1977 and Rhoda 1976. He is remembered by VarietyR.I.P. Alan Burns

Dustin Diamond (1977-2021) The Saved By the Bell child star died from cancer on February 1st. He also appeared in the films Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (2003), Pauly Shore Is Dead (2003), Big Fat Liar (2002) and Big Top Pee-Wee (1988).

American actor Hal Holbrook has left us at the age of 95, on January 23rd. He first received critical acclaim in 1954 for a one-man stage show he developed, Mark Twain Tonight!, while studying at Denison University, performing as Mark Twain. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1966 for his portrayal of Twain. He made his film debut in Sidney Lumet's The Group (1966). He later gained international fame for his performance as Deep Throat in the 1976 film All the President's Men. He played Abraham Lincoln in the 1976 miniseries Lincoln and 1985 miniseries North and South. He has also appeared in such films as Julia 1977, The Fog 1980, Creepshow 1982, Wall Street 1987, The Firm 1993, Hercules 1997, Men of Honor 2000 and Into the Wild 2007 (earning his only Oscar nomination). He won Emmy Awards for The Bold Ones: The Senator 1970 TV-series, Pueblo 1973 TV-movie, Lincoln 1974 TV mini-series and Portrait of America 1983 - 1988 TV documentary series. American TV producer and writer Cy Chermak has left us at the age of 91, on January 29th. He produced notable series such as CHiPs 1978 - 1983, Kolchak: The Night Stalker 1974 - 1975 and Ironside 1967 - 1974. In the early 1950s, he was a head writer on Rocky King, Detective, contributing to 236 episodes from 1950-1954. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1959 sci-fi film 4D Man. Israeli-born actress Haya Harareet has left us at the age of 89, on January 3rd. Her most internationally famous role was as Esther in Ben-Hur 1959. She began her career in Israeli films with Hill 24 Doesn't Answer 1955. She played opposite Virna Lisi in Francesco Maselli's The Doll that Took the Town 1957, an Italian film. Her major role as Esther in Ben-Hur 1959 remained her most widely remembered performance in international cinema. Then came 1961's L'Atlantide ( Journey Beneath The Desert, aka The Lost Kingdom, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer and co-starring Jean-Louis Trintignant. She appeared opposite Stewart Granger in Basil Dearden's film The Secret Partner 1961, and she played the role of Dr. Madolyn Bruckner in The Interns 1962. Canadian-born actor Christopher Plummer has left us at the age of 91, on February 5th. He made his film debut in Sidney Lumet's Stage Struck 1958, and won great acclaim with audiences for his performance as Captain Georg von Trapp in the musical film The Sound of Music 1965 alongside Julie Andrews. Since then he has portrayed numerous major historical figures, including Roman emperor Commodus in The Fall of the Roman Empire 1964, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington in Waterloo 1970, Rudyard Kipling in The Man Who Would Be King 1975, Mike Wallace in The Insider 1999, Leo Tolstoy in The Last Station 2009, Kaiser Wilhelm II in The Exception 2016, and J. American singer-songwriter, and former football player, Jim Weatherly has left us at the age of 77, on February 3rd. He wrote songs for almost 50 years. His best-known song is "Midnight Train to Georgia", recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips. It peaked at number 1 on the pop and R&B charts, and went on to win a Grammy Award. American film editor, screenwriter, and educator Robert C. Jones has left us at the age of 84, on February 1st He received an Academy Award for the screenplay of the film Coming Home 1978. As an editor, he had notable collaborations with the directors Arthur Hiller (seven films from 1967 to 1992) and Hal Ashby (4 films from 1973 to 1982). Jones was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World 1963, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner 1967, and Bound for Glory 1976. Italian cinematographer Guiseppe Rotunno has left us at the age of 97, on February 7th. He was director of photography on eight films by Federico Fellini. He collaborated with several celebrated Italian directors including; Vittorio De Sica on Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, and Luchino Visconti on Rocco and His Brothers 1960, The Leopard 1963 and The Stranger 1967. He also served as the director of photography for Julia and Julia 1987, the first feature shot using high definition television taping technique and then transferred to 35 mm film. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for All That Jazz 1979. He was the first non-American member admitted to the American Society of Cinematographers in 1966. French novelist, screenwriter, actor, and Academy Award honoree Jean-Claude Carrière has left us at the age of 89, on February 8th. In 1957. He was introduced to Jacques Tati, who had him write short novels based on his films. Through Tati, he met Pierre Étaix, with whom he wrote and directed several films, including Heureux Anniversaire, which won them the Academy Award for Best Short Subject. His nineteen-year collaboration with Luis Buñuel began with the film Diary of a Chambermaid 1964, he co-wrote the screenplay with Buñuel and also played the part of a village priest. He and the director would collaborate on the scripts of nearly all Buñuel's later films, including Belle de Jour 1967, The Milky Way 1969, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie 1972, The Phantom of Liberty 1974 and That Obscure Object of Desire 1977. In all, his writing appears in over 150 movies and television productions. In 2015 he received an Honorary Oscar Award. He is remembered by Hollywood Reporter R.I.P. Jean-Claude Carrière

Irish actress Rynagh O'Grady has left us at the age of 67, on January 8th. Perhaps best known for her role as Mary O'Leary in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted 1995 - 1998 and as Minnie Kennedy in the 1999 film A Love Divided. She trained in the Abbey Theatre School and first appeared on their stage in 1969. She acted in over 40 movies and television productions between 1973 and 2020. She is remembered by RTER.I.P. American jazz composer, keyboardist and bandleader Chick Corea has left us at the age of 79, on February 9th. His compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba" and "Windows" are widely considered jazz standards. He composed the music for the movie Cat Chaser 1989. American casting director Lynn Stalmaster has left us at the age of 93, on February 12th. Noted as the first casting director to be conferred an Academy Award, having received an Honorary Oscar in 2016. He got his first job in show business as an actor, appearing in the war movies The Steel Helmet 1951 and The Flying Leathernecks 1951. He established himself quickly as a solid casting director, finding steady work in both television and motion pictures. He was credited with casting more than 60 movies of the 1970's , among them; Fiddler on the Roof, Harold and Maude, The Cowboys, Deliverance, Rollerball, Silver Streak, Black Sunday, Coming Home, Convoy, The Rose, Superman and Being There. He was the first casting director to receive credit on a separate card in the main titles of a feature film, starting with The Thomas Crown Affair in 1968. Personal note: I do remember especially from 70's television and movies seeing "Casting by Lynn Stalmaster" during main titles, but I always thought it was a woman, until a few years ago

American actor Christopher Pennock has left us at the age of 76, on February 12th. He was active for over 40 years starring on and off-Broadway, in repertory and experimental theater, and in many films and television shows. He was perhaps best known for his run on the television show Dark Shadows in the early 1970's, playing multiple roles in various timelines. He appeared in over 50 guest-starring roles on television from Melrose Place to General Hospital, as well as numerous films, among them James Ivory's Savages 1972 and Graeme Clifford's Frances 1982 (starring Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard).
