If the studios that own these movies decide to do that (they won't), then that's their right. Legally perhaps, but wrong on other levels, censoring the past in whatever capacity doesn't always work out very well. It's not really censoring in this case. There was no message being conveyed. It's just a gratuitous cameo.

She wasn't missed from the Buffy franchise, I'm sure she won't be missed from these movies. Huh, last I checked there are fans of her portrayal as Buffy almost as equally as Geller's... There really aren't. Gellar has eclipsed Swanson in that respect. Her portrayal made Buffy a cultural icon. Heck, there are university classes taught on Buffy as a show, with Swanson just a footnote as the original actress.
