They'll never really enforce that, and like you said, any enforcement will be loopholed into obsolescence. And they know we wanna go to the places, and those with obscene money will overpay for a table to then overpay at the table. I haven't run into this kinda thing yet, but I do have reservations for Goosefeather (Michelin star Cantonese restaurant in Tarrytown) coming up. If someone wants to throw me some cash for it, I'm not above the temptation. Oooo very nice! I'd want you to keep the reservation and enjoy it, but I'd buy you a round of drinks if an invite were extended. Just sayin. I'll see if they can squeeze in another couple of chairs. I wonder if my wife will mind if I invite someone I know from a message board to her birthday dinner.

A friend's brother - - who lives in Virginia - - got four tickets for Oasis in Manchester. $5123 for the four of them. Gross. Pearl Jam tickets for Tuesday at MSG are available on secondaries for about $500 for center view but wayyyyy back, about $275 for being up top and so far off to the side that you’re practically behind the stage. There’s no reason for these tickets to be this expensive.

A friend's brother - - who lives in Virginia - - got four tickets for Oasis in Manchester. $5123 for the four of them. Do you know if they bought it from resellers or from the official site? I saw that surge pricing was being blamed for the absurd prices for this concert.
Surge pricing is evil. There was a story in the news here some months ago about an opera that was nearly sold out so the last remaining tickets cost more than it would cost to see an opera in New York, airfare and hotel accommodation included.

My wife said that she saw a story about tickets on the secondary market going for $5000 apiece. He somehow "won" the direct lottery. I'm sure it being the Manchester show didn't help. I knew three families that flew to Europe this year to see Taylor Swift because the price to get tickets in the US was so astronomical. Wonder if that is happening with Oasis and England (but then these four upgraded to more expensive tickets).

That is mind-boggling! My mind is thoroughly boggled.

Just the cost of the ticket in Miami was $2185. For Madrid, the ticket was $144, the flight was $1519, and a two night hotel was $129 (per Expedia) = $1792. For London it was $1706 (concert ticket much more expensive than Madrid but the flight much cheaper). Milan came in at $2035. Of course if you're doing all of that with a family, multiply it all except for the hotel room. But for the older Gen Z's/Millennials who were only purchasing their own stuff, you could certainly entertain that possibility.

Saturday night, the Mrs. my mother-in-law and I went to see Jon Batiste at Radio City. I had heard of him before, but had never listened to him or seen him perform before he closed one night of Jazz Fest earlier this year, and he totally killed it. He plays every instrument, is seemingly a virtuoso piano player, can sing, and his stage presence is incredible. He seems legitimately happy to be performing and his attitude is infectious.
That night after seeing him at Jazz Fest, I looked it up and saw that he was playing this past weekend in NYC so I jumped at the chance to see a full set. Boy oh boy, were we not disappointed. The first hour+ of the show was him with his full band, about 10 people, and it was just a great, rockin time. Then he did a costume change and came out for a half hour or so piano solo that was nothing short of phenomenal. He played classical music, then pivoted to playing jazz-versions of classical pieces, then did a montage of a bunch of songs that included Beatles, some motown, and just a smattering of other stuff. Then for a finale, he brought the band back on and did a legit second line down the aisle, shaking hands and hugging fans as he made his way towards the back of the venue.
Not sure what his tour situation is, but he plays handfuls of shows at a clip so if he comes around, I'd definitely give him a look. Just good music, a good time, with a guy who clearly loves what he does and is extremely talented.

He was Colbert's band leader for the first several years of his Late Show run, has won like a million Grammys, won an Oscar for original score, and made an Oscar nominated documentary last year which was partially about his work created a symphony. Haven't seen him live myself, but he's kind of a prolific superstar at this point.

Hope nobody was planning on going to see Jane's Addiction in the near future. The article goes on to explain that apparently tensions had been rising for a while during this tour, so I don't expect them to be back anytime soon.

It would be kind of amazing if there hadn't been any tension building and they just got into a fist fight on stage on a whim.

One could say the band has Been Caught Stealing.
