That’s a great Masterplan album.
Will listen to your whole top 15 and the rest of Fox’s top 10 at some point, just been really busy.

That’s a great Masterplan album. Will listen to your whole top 15 and the rest of Fox’s top 10 at some point, just been really busy. That's the only Masterplan album I own. I've listened to some of their more recent releases on YouTube, and thought they were decent. However, their debut is their only album that made me open my wallet. Looking forward to your feedback on the rest of my list.

I'd have to concur with both you and your fellow metal fanatic Nicko's Nose, that Masterplan track is great. Hamburgers from the great German city.
Not keen on the song by Wolf, first disappointment in a few. Perhaps the production doesn't help, it sounds a lot less beefier than some of the hardcore tracks you've posted.
But I do like Mystic Prophecy, another cool track you've shared from Germany. Catchy, melodic and with fun instrumentation. Best part - unexpected guitar break (2:54) for the soaring solo. Apparently they hail from Bad Gronenbach, a small town in Bavaria. I spent some time in Bavaria and found the beers to be massive and the people lovely. I'd certainly spin this record again ... though they're no Nightmare!
Really looking forward to the next batch, thanks so much for posting these videos ...

You're welcome! Sorry you didn't care for Wolf, but I suppose 8/9 isn't a bad ratio. I wondered if you had a chance to listen to # 12-10. The reference to Nightmare seems to answer that question! Yes Germany is home to many great metal bands. Further evidence will be provided in the next installment!

Oh yes. I'll have to check out that album, 'Genetic Disorder'.

It's a great album IMO. I also own and recommend Nightmare's next album, "Insurrection" (2009). Stand by. The next installment will be posted any moment!

Are all the picks so far in the same sub genre of metal?
Masterplan – great riffing and some inventive playing, still struggle to get past the vocals though
Wolf – I liked the nagging, bending riff in that one, wasn’t a million miles away from something My Bloody Valentine might attempt in some of their heavier moments and I didn’t mind the vocals as much
Mystic Prophecy - felt more propulsive and straightforward than the other two. Solo was brief and not too showy

Are all the picks so far in the same sub genre of metal? It depends on how technical you want to be, but I would broadly categorize all my picks as "traditional heavy metal". The Kiuas track (#11) and that album in general, draw on influences from other metal subgenres. While the tracks by Nightmare (#10) and Mystic Prophecy (#7) have some thrash metal influences.
