All-Time:
CM Punk - He excelled at being a heel but was really flat as a baby face. His promo skills as a heel are top notch but as a face he was flat. What makes him the most over rated to me is the internet fans who constantly act like he's Gods gift to wrestling and that he was the best to ever be in the ring. He was a solid wrestler but he wasn't a Shawn Michaels, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, or Kurt Angle. I compare him a lot to Edge. While very good, he was never as good as people tried to make you think he was. A case in point is when you ask people about Punk vs Taker at Mania. A Punk mark will tell you that it was the greatest match ever and that it was an instant classic. Meanwhile I look at it and see a decent match. Wasn't great but wasn't horrible.
Currently Working:
Dean Ambrose - I just don't understand what makes people a fan of this guy. His in ring work is average at best and his whole lunatic gimmick is cringe inducing for me. I have seen what he COULD be as Johnny Moxley but that guy isn't here anymore. Instead we've got a Dean Ambrose who wears a giant hat that he thinks is funny, talks to a plant, puts christmas lights on a jacket. He's just so awful and I don't get his fan base at all. The spark really hit me when he faced Ziggler at Summerslam. If you can't have a good match with Dolph Ziggler who can make anybody look good then you're the problem.

He wasn't terrible obviously but top 5 or even top 20 of all-time? I really don't think so. I saw people once say he was better than Eddie Guerrero. I have never laughed so hard.

Punk's the first that comes to mind. He was good, but not an all time great.

Bret Hart. Sorry guys I know we got big fans here but that's my #1 pick of the most overrated guy in the history of wrestling. Don't get me wrong, he had some epic matches

Don't get me wrong, he had some epic matches I used to be a fan of his until he just became so bitter and annoying these days. He just shits on everything and I just hate his attitude now. It's a shame. I understand him being a choice here so idk why you'd feel the need to apologize.

Don't get me wrong, he had some epic matches I've always thought the same. He was a great wrestler but he had such a boring personality. I like my wrestlers to be interesting outside of the ring as well. This is sports entertainment after all.

I guess just a misguided attempt at courtesy to my fellow forum friends who may be big fans of his

That's correct, and the point being that there's more to being the full package then being able to have good matches.

'taker was never my cup of tea

That's correct, and the point being that there's more to being the full package then being able to have good matches. That's my issue with a lot of indy darlings, especially Finn Balor. Tremendous wrestler but boring beyond words otherwise. His promo skills are ass and when he isn't the demon king he looks bland.

Hulk Hogan is really overrated too. Proof? You. I find it very flattering most of your posts consist of following me yet again. And thanks again for that terrific sendoff on IMDB with a post dedicated to myself. But back to the topic at hand and your response. How would you assess that Hogan is overrated when one can argue he is the biggest Icon in Sports Entertainment history? They've tried numerous times to duplicate his success with 'bodies' - i.e. Luger and Warrior (both I'm a fan of) - and failed. So why is Hogan overrated in your eyes?

I'm a heart fan and I've got no problem with people saying he's over rated. Anyone who's highly rated, if you don't like what they do, is over rated to you. That's fine with me.
The Hogan one was weird as I don't think he is highly rated to start with. If anything I think he's probably a little under rated in these parts. A lot of people seem to think it was a rarity for Hogan to have a decent match: it wasn't.
