Would’ve been way better if she were featured. Strange is so out of character when casting that spell. Supposedly she was the one meant to do it in the original script. I rewatched it last night and there is a really obvious reshoot where Strange agrees to cast it. There’s bad green screen behind both actors (despite both having been on the actual set earlier in the same scene) and Cumberbatch’s hair even looks weird.

My blu arrived yesterday, fun to watch less chaotic home viewing... stuff to unpack:
- Sony forced this ahead of Multiverse of Madness, which I guess is why the Doctor Strange stuff felt less polished (why is Doc sacrificing so much of the universes for Peter's friends' fates, without hesitation?). At least the film does end rather maddeningly as it were, spiraling into further disarray for everyone. - It's great that Andrew Garfield gets to cap his often maligned Spidey turn with nice payoffs & emotional wins. 'She was my MJ' still hits, as if self deprecatingly so, & his catching falling MCU MJ to make up for his loss of Gwen Stacy. - Tobey Maguire is to Spider-Man as Christopher Reeve is to Superman. It's just the way that goes. I'm really glad it wasn't just 30 second cameos, or only street clothes stuff. While I knew the multiverse casting spoilers months prior, I was admittedly only expecting them all to appear in a giant action sequence, without any of them aware of where they were or who they were with. I thought it'd be accidental fan service or something, instead it was a full embrace of the cinematic Spider-Mans. - As for MCU Spider-Man, it would seem this is the end of the line for standalone films. Sony will want their own movies, whether Tom Holland continues or not. Chatter is that he avoided Sony altogether until & unless they worked again within the MCU. I doubt Sony will keep going along with whatever Holland wishes. If we don't get Holland again in the MCU until the climax of Phase 4, I won't be shocked.

Q: in the new universe, at the coffee shop, are MJ & Ned a thing? I've read/heard ppl think that's the idea. Call me crazy, I didn't get the vibe at all, & disagree.

More about Venom being in NWH:
"So Eddie Brock makes it to the MCU but he never makes it out of a bar. But there were versions where he shows up earlier," McKenna told Empire. "We were going to try to have him show up at the Statue of Liberty [for the final fight], and we were even toying with having him stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel."

Tom Hardy's career from being spoken about as a possible James Bond to the drunk that leaves behind a piece of space shit without making it to the final fight in a Spider-Man movie is complete. Not even an exchange of words with Nicholas Hammond. Jokes aside the way that Eddie Brock was treated in NWH while I dislike his Venom movies was pretty stupid. Marvel's worst scene in MCU history.

So glad they didn’t feature Hardy’s Venom in the actual movie. Would’ve ruined the whole thing.

It’s occurred to me that this is apparently going to be the first MCU movie to get an actual extended cut.
