Is this the fight scene people are praising? I know I’m watching it out of context, but good god this is the worst gratuitous fan service I’ve ever seen. Plus, the background environment looks atrocious. Like a video game cut scene but but obie dobie threw like 100 cgi boulders! and darth darthington made an earthquake! that's super duper kewl! TOTES AWESOME SAUCE!

Plus, the background environment looks atrocious. Like a video game cut scene I thought the fight was bad, but the scene after when Obi-Wan slices Vader’s helmet and reveals his scorched face was excellent. Anakin’s voice cutting in and out between Vader’s was a nice touch. It was actually somewhat emotional. I’ve always liked their friendship and found it overhated among most fans. The video cuts off right when that happens. LOL. The alternating voice sounds like an interesting idea though.

I thought it was really kind of Obi-Wan to leave Darth alive , when he could easily have killed him (again), in order to allow Luke to grow up as their "last hope". What an unselfish guy! I also liked how despite having a hole sliced right through her and being left on the ground to die, Reva made it to Tatooine quicker than Darth got back on his ship to pursue the rebels. Great stuff again...

How did Reva Survive? How did she get to Tatooine? How does she know Luke is Vader's son?
Why doesn't Obi-Wan just kill Vader? How many lives would've been saved? Why does he never demonstrate anything remotely close to that level of power with the force in A New Hope?
Why does Qui-Gon wait until the plot is resolved to appear? This is one I really want to talk about.
Force ghosts never made any sense to me. Of course the sequel trilogy was the worst, with ghost Yoda actually using the force to affect the real world. He's basically god at that point, I don't know how the bad guys could combat that. But even leaving that aside, think of all the ways they could've been useful. As spies collecting intel, as negotiators convincing those on the brink not to turn to the dark side. Maybe ghost Anakin could've tried to convince Kylo not to turn evil? "Hey kid, it didn't turn out so great for me..."
If I was ghost Qui-Gon, I would haunt Vader for all eternity. "Look you little shit, I stuck my neck out for you! I even died! The council told me not to train you, but I insisted on you being trained anyway, and this is how you repay me?! Great decision, by the way. You're looking good these days." Start openly mocking him in front of other people. "Ho-perr! Hooo-perrr!!" "Padme had a great ass, and you've got your helmet all the way up it!" Vader is bitching out Imperial officers, Qui-Gon appears behind him making a jack off motion.
All in all I thought it was a decent finale, even if some of it didn't make sense. The series as a whole was mostly garbage, though.

This is one I really want to talk about. All excellent points! I don't think the recording she heard said anything about Anakin being linked to Luke, just as it was mere "coincidence" re her taking Leia. She didn't know about her either - even although she was perfectly happy to torture / kill her 😂. Leaving that dual in a situation where Obi-Wan could easily have killed Darth but didn't is a massive flop in the writing stakes. Surely they could have come up with something, e.g. the Emperor and a load of Stormtroopers turning up to thwart him. Absolute nonsense, and makes the entire OT having to take place all on Obi-Wan's shoulders! Maybe he just liked the idea of getting to watch someone kill their own dad, who knows 🤷 And Qui-Gon... Again absolute garbage writing. I genuinely thought he was going to appear when Obi-Wan was in the rubble (and grudgingly, given the crap before, was ready to give credit for what would have been an amazing moment) but no, he appears literally for a joke once everything's wrapped up!

It's unclear how much she knows of Anakin's backstory. She knows he's Darth Vader, but doesn't seem to know Kenobi chopped him to bits and left him for dead years ago. I thought she must've figured out the kids after the recording, otherwise why go after Luke at all? She appeared to have come to an understanding with Obi-Wan, hence letting them go so she could get the drop on Vader. Why else would she go after Luke at that point if not his connection to Anakin?

But comparing it to the duel in RotS makes it feel so boring and slow.

But I really hated having the environments super dark with only the ambient light from the lightsabers going on. It can work done well is small doses, but it was way overdone in this show. I boosted the brightness on my TV all the way up and still had trouble seeing stuff.

I can't help but find it a bit disingenuous to act like this fight is video game fanservice and the people who enjoyed it are drooling simpletons when the duo's last big fight had them surfing on a lava planet. This show has plenty to make fun of, but you want people to feel guilty for liking a scene, in a Star Wars property, where Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi throw down with the force and fight? Okay then. Fuckin' Scrooges, man.

I just happened to watch the scene after seeing fans praise it on Reddit. I don’t get the love for it at all, but I wouldn’t insult anyone for enjoying it.

It’s not just the darkness (which by the way is meant to hide the poor effects work) but the whole thing looks like they’re trapped in a VR simulation or something. Not one second of that scene looks even remotely like a real environment.

But this new environment generating tech Disney is using now really takes the fakey fakeness to a new level of fakiness. At least a lot of the old green screen work uses foreground sets to provide some tangibility to the scene.

The series as a whole was mostly garbage, though. Well, aren't they always harping that killing defeated opponents is "not the Jedi way"? And I think we're meant to see that ANH fight as a lot more kickass than their resources at the time allowed. Vader is bragging about how much he's improved since his twirling ballerina days in RotS, cue David Prowse and Sir Alec Guinness awkwardly banging sticks. And yeah, force ghosts have always raised questions for me. Obi-Wan said if Vader struck him down he'd become "more powerful than he could possibly imagine", which in the OT I guess meant he'd sit on a log and poorly rationalize lies to his son. Maybe Qui-Gon's "you weren't ready to see me", clumsy as it was, can be seen as some kind of broader explanation? Vader and Kylo couldn't or wouldn't see the Jedi. Ghost Ben should be hanging out in a Star Destroyer or in the Emperor's throne room all day so he can deliver secrets to the rebels, but they aren't force attuned. Etc. It's not much, but...
