Hope the USC & UCLA AD's are ready for raukus home crowds when they host Purdue, Indiana, &/or Iowa... The Pac-12 had been extremely competitive recent years... it scuked that their competitive parity kept them out of playoff contentions. I'll miss late night Saturdays with the best games of the entire day. At the very least, hopefully this is the slippery slope to full geographic scorched earth alignments. The PAC hasn't been that competitive in football. One team, Oregon in 2014, have made the playoff.
They've been running good teams, conference defeats cancelling each other out when the CFP rankings emerge. No one wants to hear about a 1 or 2 loss team, even if that was a top 25 loss in October. God forbid.

Boxing -
3 Weight Classes - that's it
150 lbs and under
150-200 lbs
Over 200 lbs
Getting rid of the 30 belts in each weight class too
Just 1 belt per weight class
Don't think a smaller boxer 150 lbs could beat a 200 lbs boxer?
Old saying in life - you can't hit what you can't catch - becomes even more of a chess match

Becomes kind of a circus sideshow, doesn't it? Is this pugilism or a street fight?

If the CFL ever opens Halifax, it should be a single table league. In the 21st century, an East & West playoff final is silly with 9 teams. Esp when they already do a crossover seed.

ACC should just swoop in & invite Oregon, Washington, Stanford, & Colorado. They could easily each still keep their in-state rivalry games without issue.

MLB EAST
MLB Northeast (Babe Ruth trophy) Boston Montreal NY Yankees Toronto
MLB Atlantic (Roberto Clemente trophy) Baltimore NY Mets Philadelphia Pittsburgh
MLB Southeast (Hank Aaron trophy) Atlanta Miami Tampa Bay Washington
MLB Central (Sparky Anderson trophy) CHI White Sox Detroit Cleveland Cincinnati
MLB WEST
MLB North (Albert Pujols trophy) CHI Cubs Milwaukee Minnesota St. Louis
MLB Midwest (Nolan Ryan trophy) Colorado Houston Kansas City Texas
MLB Southwest (Jackie Robinson trophy) Arizona LA Angels LA Dodgers San Diego
MLB Northwest (Ichiro Suzuki trophy) Las Vegas Portland San Francisco Seattle
Each team has a designated historic/geographic rival - which is a full week/7 day annual series, scheduled in unique weeks so fans don't have to choose between them all at once.
I do think geography is in MLB's eventual best interest.

If the ACC football schools set sail, what of Duke & UNC's place for basketball. Where will they go, SEC? Whoop-de-doo. Every school except FSU and Clemson would be cannon fodder in the SEC.
And the CBB fans and the people of North Carolina would soil themselves if UNC-Duke went the way of Oklahoma-Nebraska or Pitt-Penn State. But college basketball doesn't pay the bills that college football does. UNC getting slaughtered by Alabama or Georgia would bring in more coin that 10 UNC-Duke games.

Except I think North Carolina would be looking at the Big Ten. They've been mentioned frequently there (but they'd need a partner - - Maryland wouldn't be enough).

So UNC would lose all their regional rivals, Duke, NC State and Wake Forest? And they would be cannon fodder in the B10 East. Have fun playing Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State every year instead of Duke, Wake, Georgia Tech. They are a big TV market without a B10 or SEC presence. A move like this worked for Rutgers but not for Nebraska.
I'd be curious to hear the real truth from those in power at Nebraska. Do they regret moving to the Big 10? I'm sure the money is yummy but the football program went from a title contender year after year to shit. No winning record since 2016 and none in the foreseeable future. If Scott Frost, Cornhusker royalty, couldn't turn it around, Matt Rhule won't either.

Ppl were throwing FSU & Clemson to the SEC, to eastern balance Texas & Oklahoma joining... & having Miami & 3 other lucky ones join the Big10. Everyone else is screwed. I for one have been a geographic fan of the ACC, north to south coverage. At least they tried, for a long enough time. Florida State & Miami could never get their football mojo back from the 90's at the same time, dooming the conference's sex appeal. I feel bad for Syracuse, Boston College, Pitt, & Louisville who signed up for a nice football/basketball conference.

I think Nebraska was probably screwed either way. The 70-90s heyday was built off of a time period when there were fewer games on television so Nebraska could use "you'll be on television" as a way to coax kids to go there. But they could have at least still pulled kids from Texas to go to Nebraska if they had stayed in the Big 12. At the time, I got the idea that they just despised the Longhorns so much that they wanted out of there no matter what. That could have been a mistake - - although, if Texas and Oklahoma were going to leave anyway, it just delayed the inevitable. From what I've read, it sounds like outside of Notre Dame finally choosing the Big Ten, the schools that they'd desire the most would be Virginia and North Carolina. Academically that works and those two would make for more of a wing with the east coast to go with Rutgers, Maryland, and Penn State. It doesn't make things any easier for USC and UCLA, though. They probably should just rip the band aid off - - it'll eventually be twenty schools anyway - - and grab Oregon and Washington plus two others and call it a day.

Big XII looking to expand. Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State. And possibly UConn and Gonzaga. This would kill the PAC, as if losing the two LA schools isn't enough already. And I'm not seeing how bringing in a non-football school like Gonzaga would work. It killed the old Big East.

At that point, Pac 6 and Mountain West should merge, although I could see Cal and Stanford either becoming independents or dropping out of Div 1 sports all together. And Washington and Oregon must be calling the Big Ten every day to see how they could be taken in.

San Diego State gave notice that they want to leave the Mountain West. Hope they know what they are doing - - they don't have any offers yet.

San Diego State gave notice that they want to leave the Mountain West. Hope they know what they are doing - - they don't have any offers yet. Have to be going to the PAC. They just sunk a shitload of cash into their football facilities and they have proven they can compete with the rest of the conference. They can't seriously be thinking of going independent. But the PAC will need another school. Who? They made a titanic error in not going after BYU harder. BYU would have kept Utah and probably Colorado in conference. Some chatter about Gonzaga in every spot but football but that's silly. Colorado State, New Mexico, Boise State, yawn. If the four non-Pacific coastal schools, Colorado, Utah and the Arizona's go, then it's all academic. Cal, Stanford, the Oregons and the Washingtons might as well join the MW and run roughshod over UNLV and Air Force

This is the end of the Pac. Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah are going to plead with the Big 12 to take them. No longer looking like the bad guy for destroying the Pac 12, Big 10 will throw the lifeline out for Oregon and Washington. Oregon State and Washington State will slink off to the Mountain West. Cal and Stanford will do something (disband football and join the Big West? go down to IAA and play the Ivys? become the 21st century University of Chicago?). That is some of the worst commissionering ever.
