Something unexpected has occured and I have to go away on short notice to take care of some family business which means I have to end the challenge here. Theoretically I could still watch a film or two tonight, but I'm just not in the mood anymore, and I'd also rather rest, since I'll have a long drive ahead of me tomorrow. It was fun taking part in the challenge, even though my selection of new films turned out to be rather underwhelming this year. In the end I still managed to watch a total of 63 films. Wishing you folks a nice weekend with some worthwhile scary flicks for the home stretch and Happy Halloween! Hope everything turns out okay. Have a safe trip.

I'm 1 film away and timed it for Barbarian that popped up on HBO Max. That movie is supposed to be awesome so im hoping to end it on a high note. I also plan on watching Incident in a Ghostland on Netflix. Maybe throw in a couple rewatch favorites as well. I think I'll finish my season Friday night.

Having watched X and loved it and then Pearl and loved it are we all in agreement that Mia Goth is an absolute gem? Her performance in Pearl is one for the ages.

Saloum (2021) Mercenaries hired to transport a Mexican drug lord in a plane are forced to make a pit stop in a remote area. Eventually they must contend with evil forces.
This highly-acclaimed West African horror movie was a random pick from Shudder. At first it seemed like a standard action movie and I was beginning to wonder if it was even a horror movie at all. But then the supernatural stuff started to kick in after nearly an hour. Unfortunately, the demonic forces are presented as...uh...mini tornadoes. Even more silly is the fact that they can easily be killed with guns and knives.
In spite of the flaws Saloum does benefit from fast-paced direction, good acting, and snappy dialogue (Senegalese with English subs). Overall, it's fairly good; definitely worth a look.

Watched "Knuckle bones" which was a newer movie. Kind of a goofy B movie with Demons.

Barbarian (2022) Based on what you would see in the trailer, this starts off with a woman having to share an Airbnb with a twitchy young dud due to a double-booking error; then creepy stuff ensues. Think you can see where this is going? Well, guess again! The story then ends up taking a sharp turn elsewhere, rendering it completely unpredictable. The nail-biting suspense just kept on pouring, the intensity went to high levels, and the sense of dread was completely unbearable. All-in-all Barbarian is a wonderfully surprising horror thriller that ranks as one of the best I've seen during the Challenge. I noticed on the Progress Thread that quite a few have also seen it, so I hope y'all enjoyed it as much as I did.
Without giving anything away, the script seemingly had some loose story threads dangling which leads me to believe that this is a setup for a possible sequel. You never know.

Such a lovely and fun film, and thought about adding it into the last final days, but did see it again not too long ago, but yeah, I rated it also very high with a 9/10, and would love a sequel to it, if that might happen.

I haven't really ever participated because I never thought I'd have the time, and then this year I have no time at all. But I love that this is a thing. Haven't even really checked this thread til now, but I'm very impressed.

I was always worried that I wouldn't have enough time to complete the challenge, but I managed to beat all the years I participated. This year might be the most I've watched, though still not close to the highest as some of the other participants here in which I congratulate taking the time in doing so.

Happy Halloween, everyone! Starting the day with The Wolfman (#96) and The Creature From the Black Lagoon (#97). Hope to hit 100 or even 101 by this evening. Likewise and damn, you sure seemed to be flying the last couple of days or week, and very impressive run you got there. Hope you make it to your final destination, and also most important, make sure to have lots of fun doing so. Have no idea which films I might go with, but maybe it is for the best, just pick it up and see where it will lead. I know one thing, and that is reaching 100 films, was not gonna happen, but nothing that puts me down, just a reminder that hopefully there is always next year, and maybe try to plan a bit better, also go for a better theme, than "watching crappy films randomly on Youtube" which surely has brough down my motivation a few times, too many. Then again, there are a few not all bad, which I might not have stumbled upon, if not for the impulsive search on Youtube for unseen horror films. Anyway, I did a bit of warm up with a nice little 30 minute feature of the making of Halloween III (1982), maybe not the most interesting piece, if one hates the film, but as fan, it was a nice watch, and also enjoyed the interviews of specially Tom Atkins and Tommy Lee Wallace, and I think this feature was included on the 2012 Scream Factory Blu-ray. Might later on, try to pick up a bit more warm up, by seeing Linnea Quigley and her Horror Workout video as well. Well, until then, hope everyone will have a great and fun Halloween eve, and look forward to be seeing what kind of films everybody has ended up with.
