Made it with about 30 hours to spare. 31 movies, 18 FTVs. Two of those were Rifftrax Live, but I found they match up to the rules (got their own IMDb page, credited as Horror). Favorite FTV was Barbarian. Worst was Last Slumber Party. A highlight was seeing the original Dawn of the Dead in theaters (with dodgy 3D, but I digress). Also showing my girlfriend the TCM remake, which freaked her out good. Underrated movie. I too saw Dawn in 3-D. I didn't have an issue with the 3-D itself, but the volume was incredibly low. Wondering if it was an issue just with my theater or in general? Mine was a tad low also. Tends to happen with these older rereleases.

I should have the challenge results posted either today or tomorrow.
As for my challenge. I was surprised with the time I had, and the amount of films I saw in the end. 38 films, and 22 first times. A lot of cramming. Though I must be getting old, as some nights I was having trouble keeping my eyes open during the second film of a back to back.
My first-time viewings were for most part quite middling. Nothing blew me away. But I did come away really enjoying; ‘The Final Girls’ 2015 & ‘The Black Cat’ 1981. While at the other end of the spectrum; Life Blood ‘2009’, The Fear ‘1995’ and The Lords of the Deep ‘1989’ were a bit of slog. Especially ending my first time viewings with the latter title. But fixed it up by watching some solid/or great rewatches to end the month.

Well actually finding it hard to find something to watch tonight. 😆 Because I started so early in the Summer. Tonight I settled on Argento's "Deep Red" which is a first time watch. If I watch anything else I'll post here. But heck that may be it for me for this year with horror. Time to move on to other genres for awhile. It was fun reading other people's lists and thoughts. So what did you think of Tenebrae and Deep Red? Are you a Dario Argento fan?

I did watch "Deep Red" before but it's been several years.

Yes, thank you lostinlimbo for hosting and your work in breaking down the numbers. ☺ All of my watches were library rentals and my totals once again paltry but big on fun/enjoyment. Happy Death Day was my favorite FTV by far. I had so much fun with it ! It is not just my favorite modern slasher but one of my favorite slashers of all time. Tourist Trap. I really wish I would have seen this as a kid. I know it would have scared the absolute crap out of me. The mannequins yelling, trying to warn Slausen got me really thinking. Not only could Slausen consciously move them with his telekinesis, but I think being so lonely, his telekinesis was projected out by his subconscious as well, literally giving them some weird form of life. Kind of like how a cat's tail moves/ twitches and reacts independently of the cat always thinking about it. That's what I think anyway. I'd be very interested in hearing what others think about 'ol Slausen and the nature of his mannequins. "Davey's" muttering sounded just like Pa from the old The Hillbilly Bears cartoon.
Happy Death Day 2U, I was really dubious about. Until I found out it added parallel universes to the mix. Not as good/compelling as the first but still very fun. Especially all the ways Tree commits suicide to reset. And watching Jessica Rothe...Wow ! Besides looks, talent and comedic timing, whatever "IT" is, she definitely has it. She reminds me so much of Goldie Hawn. And watching the character of Danielle play a faux French exchange student (her accent 😂) distracting the dean had me laughing out loud. Noticed Tree's Mom was played by the same actress as in the first film (where we only briefly see her in a photograph) and I know this sequel was never planned back then. So I guess they lucked out, because that woman does some great acting here. Revisiting The Sixth Sense for the first time since VHS days got me really trying to figure out exactly when Cole figured out Dr. Crowe was a ghost. I thought he definitely knew by the end when he tells/asks him he won't be seeing him anymore and told him he knew how Crowe could talk to his wife and she would listen, while she's asleep. Reading what M. Night said, Cole knew from the start, when he first saw him (sitting outside on a bench) and that's why Cole ran into the church. I never ever picked up on that and learning it made me appreciate just how carefully a bunch of scenes were well planned out.

Final Results 95 Films Total 75 - First Time Views 20 - Re Watches Best First Time Views 1. The Wicker Man 2. Terrifier 2 3. All Hollows Eve 4. Orphan: First Kill 5. Vault of Horror Worst First Time Views 1. Ballet Blanc 2. Night 3. Beware of the Klowns 4. Octoberfest 5. Toy Box Killers Love The Wicker Man and like Vault of Horror. Those Terrifier movies are a bit much for me but I appreciate the dedication to pure terror that Art the Clown provides.

Thanks again to everyone who participated this year. I always seem to start out not wanting to even do this again, but then the Halloween spirit overtakes me and I wind up having a great time. Congrats to the reigning champ TheSowIsMine , there was no way I would ever catch up to you. jcush was seriously bringing the heat though for second place. Nice showing. There were days I could only see one movie and October was an extra busy month for me, working extra days, I almost gave up. The Good (FTV's Only): #Alive (2020) The Platform (2019) Cockneys vs. Zombies (2012) Blood Vessel (2019) Barbarian (2022) The Bad (FTV's Only): The Devil's Tomb (2009) Beyond Evil (1980) Destroyer (1988) Archons (2018) Late Fee (2009) The Ugly (FTV's Only): Night Killer (1990) I Spit On Your Grave: Déjà Vu (2019) Hack-O-Lantern (1988) The Children (1980) The Fields (2011) The Surprisingly Good (FTV's Only): Countdown (2019) The Void (2016) Don't Listen (2020) Children of the Corn: Runaway (2018) Black Pumpkin (2018) I was in second place for most of it, but I slowed down a bit and you caught and passed me. We had a nice little back and forth going there at the end. Maybe someday one of us will be able to challenge TheSnowIsMine I liked the competition. I don't think I personally can ever catch up to TheSowIsMine he's a movie watching machine! It would take another pandemic or unemployment for me to have the opportunity to get those numbers. I would have had even more but a lot of times I had nothing available, new or old. I was bummin' movies here and there and downloaded a bunch of foreign language Netflix horror that I might not normally bother with.

Thanks for putting in all the work, lostinlimbo!
I hope even more people can participate next year. This is always a lot of fun even taking the competitive nature of it out of the equation (which you kinda have to, since Sow will always have us beat).
Less than 11 months before we get to do it all over again.
Cheers all! 🍻

Those numbers only come because I have a panic and anxiety disorder with depression and Im basically afraid to leave the house. October is a month of escapism for me.

I've had some struggles with mental health in the past and have found the genre to be a wonderful escape myself.
