I thought this was a really bad episode. Maybe the worst yet. It looked very cheap. The effects were awful aside from those creatures. Coruscant looked fake and amateurish, as did several action scenes. Sooo anticlimactic. I'm also completely and totally over Filoni's obsession with the prequel era. I love Grogu, but outside of him, this episode suuuucckkked.
You make a good point about it looking cheap. The first thing I thought when I saw the Mandalorians training was how cheap and amateurish it looked. Almost like a group of cosplayers play fighting. The budget feels lower this season.

The budget feels lower this season. I have never looked at this show and felt it looked like that. It stood out this week big time imo. I agree the other Mandos looked like fans larping.
All the stuff with the Clone Troopers and Master Jar Jar looked sooooo fake and was very uninteresting. Just more boring prequel style action. No tension or drama at all.

... Almost like a group of cosplayers play fighting. The budget feels lower this season. Maybe. But then I got that same feeling watching the Storm troopers back in Season 1. Same with them in Obi Wan as well - in particular that scene when they were in that transporter which stopped and picked some up.

I saw Episode 5. It’s not good but still better than anything Disney Star Wars (I haven’t seen all of Andor).
The plot and characterisation is not complex enough. Yeah the scene with the former imperial officer was good and the scene in the shuttle wreck was nice too but when you’re highlighting scenes then you’re not enjoying it and I’m not. The Mandalorian scenes sucked. It gave me flashbacks of the Boba Fett series.
So there are good scenes but their existence is frustrating because you know they can make something worthwhile but they aren’t.

What's wrong with these Mandalorians? They set up camp right next to water containing with some giant sea creature that they appear to be completely unaware of. And then - despite having some Mandos on watch - also seem to be completely unaware of the native massive dragons which can freely swoop down on them...

I actually totally understand setting up camp on a monster planet where you have to constantly be on the lookout for murderous flying birds and gargantuan crocodile things...that fits with the Mandalorian culture. What I didn't get was their failure to adapt to the problems after implying that this kind of things happens all the time. That does not jive with Mandalorian culture. Its the comment of 'It always gets away' that made me shake my head.

Its the comment of 'It always gets away' that made me shake my head. Yes, that was the daft aspect. The first time they were having some ceremony right in front of the water. No worries, I'm sure it won't come! And then again, we're just out here training - surely that dragon won't come... Whoops! I also thought it was very good of that dragon to hold the foundling in it's mouth for the duration of their overnight camping rescue mission before deciding to feed the baby dragons just as they arrived!

I thought the dragon had the kid in its claws when it grabbed him, so I don't know if we have any idea how long the kid was in the dragons throat or whatever. But this is a universe where people defy the odds of their own death time and time again so I can easily swallow that particular pill if i have to. I did like the Mandalorian representation in the 5th episode tho. Back on track, imo.

Actually I just caught back up on the last few episodes and I've enjoyed them all for the most part. I had read some criticism of the non Mandalorian episode but I quite liked the look at Coruscant post ROTJ. Also liked the baby Yoda Jedi temple escape flashback. Some reservations about the cartoon elements being shoehorned in but, all in all, I still think it's the best Star Wars Disney have produced.

Apparently this has been going on behind-the-scenes: While Gina Carano was obviously not happy with how her exit from The Mandalorian was handled in 2021, she's not standing for people criticizing the actors who've remained a part of the popular Star Wars series for the new season. Carano's Cara Dune character, who was featured prominently in the show's first two seasons, and this left a bit of a void heading into season 3. It may have contributed to increased screen time for other characters, such as Katy O'Brian, who joined the series as Elia Kane in the second season. While essentially a background character in season 2, the third season has put Elia into the spotlight with a more prominent role.
On social media, one of Carano's critics shared an image of O'Brian to celebrate how the series "kicked a muscular transphobe off the show and then brought in a muscular lesbian." The post has generated a lot of controversy, and some people have fired back by insulting O'Brian. It's gotten so ugly that Carano herself felt compelled to weigh in, sharing the post on Twitter along with a statement condemning any toxicity that's being leveled against the "sweetheart" that she knows O'Brian to be.
"I’ve been tagged in this a bunch so I wanted to say one thing.. please do not engage in hateful comments towards the actress in this pic," Carano says in her tweet. "I met her on season 2 of Mando I believe and she was a sweetheart. Send her nothing but love. The person who posted this is sad and got the ugly attention she desired.. but that is not this actresses fault."
Carano continued, "It hurts my heart to think that someone is so excited about a job to be met with unjust hate because of ridiculous drama, rumors and heresy. I experienced that and it is cruel, I don’t want anyone else to feel that. Move with care on here."
Carano shouldn't have been dropped from The Mandalorian and her future Star Wars show canceled.

Pretty good episode, but I have to wonder exactly where this is going. It semes like they ended the Mando apostate story too soon and now don't quite know what to do next. The Jedi that saved Grogu was played by Ahmed Best. He played Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy. I thought the same thing. It seemed too easy for him to get what he wanted/needed. It would have been better to have more obstacles put in his path and spent more episodes on it. It fizzled.

There is much I like about this season. It looks beautiful IMO. The shots of the ships in the daytime skies and just the scale creates a wonderful setting. And Coruscant streets look cool.

There were a few weird episodes down the stretch, but overall it was a great season. The finale was all a fan could ask for. Looking forward to season 4, and the Ahsoka trailer looks pretty good, too.
