Making it so that Rhodes was replaced by a Skrull since Captain America: Civil War till now feels like such a kick to the shin to the viewer. All the emotion Rhodes displayed for friends in all this time since, including Tony Stark's passing in Endgame, was all just for show, none of these people meant anything to the Skrull imposter.

Also, that means the Skrull imposter was actually on Thanos's farm planet, and failed to mention it to his homeless Skrull compatriots. It ruins every Rhodey scene since Civil War, and creates enormous plot holes like the one I mentioned. Everything about this show was terrible.

And we know now that a large portion of Armor Wars is going to be spent on a James Rhodes who has to adjust to living in the present and learning about everything that came about when he was held prisoner. It is so lazy.

I'll believe it when someone confirms it. It makes more sense to me that he was nabbed sometime after Endgame. That way he could be a voice in the government's ear pretending to help but actually sewing discord. I almost don't see the point of maintaining the charade after the snap. Was half the universe wiped out only a small crimp in their plan?
If Rhodes was a Skrull since before then, that's just rude.

It's strongly suggested that he was replaced after receiving his injury in Civil War, hence why in Secret Invasion when he is freed he is having trouble walking. It's a very poorly conceived retcon, this article from WeGotThisCovered lists a few good reasons why it makes little sense, and just goes to illustrate that Marvel Studios has been making it up as they've gone along since Endgame, link

They never said he was replaced after Civil War, it's just a theory

They never said he was replaced after Civil War, it's just a theory Sure, it could've been after any random hospital visit. But choosing to put him in a hospital gown when we know exactly when the character was injured highly suggests this is what they're implying. Even if they took him more recently, the machine they hook him up to scans his memories, so they'd still know about Thanos's farm planet, yet they decided it made more sense to wage war on Earth instead of simply moving to that planet. There's no way around how poorly written this show was.

We will find out come Armor Wars, assuming it gets made.
I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the project. Originally it was a series, then it became a movie, and the last update we had was almost a whole year ago. Secret Invasion was supposed to lead into it, but not enough people watched it, and there were no showers of praise for the big reveal of the Skrull impersonating War Machine for such a period of time. I haven't seen really any anticipation for the Ironheart series centering around Riri Williams who is set to co-lead the Armor Wars movie, either. That project I know will eventually see release, even if they decide to reduce the episode like they are said to do with Echo, but with the latter you at least have some Daredevil ties so that may attract some consumers, I don't know about Ironheart though, it would be another matter if Wakanda Forever was an even bigger hit and Secret Invasion was the most watched series of the summer.

There's no way around how poorly written this show was. Something tells me the whole of Armor Wars is going to be about War Machine adjusting to the present day, and right now they are considering doing a heavy rewrite to make it seem like it was replaced by a Skrull sooner given how poorly received the reveal was in Secret Invasion. Not much is going on with the project, last anything was said about it was last year around this very time, I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel it and carry on.

Think. Please Think.

Two days and that's the best you could come up with? Why would you make that assumption? Congratulations though, you put more effort into an explanation than the Secret Invasion writers did, that's for sure.

We knew the Kree were hunting them world to world, meaning they knew the Skrulls were trying to find a planet. We also know they considered Earth to be a place too far away that most Kree didn't know about it, making it a good location. And that Thanos' world was not outright stated to be some remote secret place the Kree wouldn't know about.
Think man.

formersamhmd must have really not enjoyed this series, and I am going to guess most if not all recent Hollywood offerings, given how desperate they are to entertain themselves on places like this.

Secret Invasion should have either been a story arc throughout phase 4 capping off with a Avengers: Secret Invasion movie or should have been a Saga on its own.
Condensing it into a six episode series was a bad idea. Like this is something we would have seen in a CW DC show.
Shame on you, Feige!
