The Big East got screwed over. Even when itβs basketball itβs all about the football schools. Fucking ridiculous. If I was the commissioner of The Big East, I would start hiring people to assassinate members of the selection committee. How many times does that conference need to prove itself?

Some are threatening to break away and make the NCAA an power conference only and eliminate the automatic qualifiers. Huge mistake, the NCAA is made by the Fairleigh Dickenson, the Saint Peter's, the George Mason upsets. Seeing a #1 seed go down is cool but not as cool when it's a 16-15 ACC school

A lot of strange choices regarding who got in, seeding, the Big East getting the shaft, etc. But maybe the strangest thing is UConn apparently being the overall #1 seed, but having what looks to me like a very difficult region. Not sure if you were floating a conspiracy theory, but I'll second it either way. The Big East getting screwed will add their voice to the crowd of power conferences screaming to expand the tournament. I don't like it.

A lot of experts are saying this tournament was seeded very badly. The teams are seeded 1-68, of course. Iowa State was #8, the lowest #2 seed. No way. Yeah, their non-conference stunk but they played in the top conference and had no bad losses. Baylor was #9, the top #3 seed. Baylor is better than Illinois? Nope. Florida Atlantic and Michigan State are way to high at #9's (Number nine, number nine, number nine?). Virginia and Colorado should be in the NIT. One team i think should have been in is Princeton. Yeah, Ivy league. Yeah, they beat no team ranked higher than 86. But they were fucking 24-3. The small conference teams have to play the cards that are dealt and they played them very well. Compared to a 19-14 team...

I'd add that I think Auburn at a 4 is too high, they should be a 3, possibly even a 2. Auburn is a great team, they were blowing people out all year, and the SEC I would argue is just as good as the Big 12, if not better. UConn I think really got a tough draw as the number 1 overall seed - Iowa State, Illinois, and Auburn all have a case for being underseeded and right there as the toughest team in their seed line. Then you have SDSU and FAU in their bracket too, final four teams last year. Not easy at all for the Huskies to repeat

Another seeding thing that struck me as very odd was the Mountain West. They got 6 teams in, which I think is what people kind of thought they'd get, but their seeds are a lot worse than most people thought: (5) SDSU (8) Utah State (10) Nevada (10) Boise St (10) Colorado State (11) New Mexico
Given most of their seeds, it's obvious the committee didn't value the Mountain West that much. If that much is true, how in the world does SDSU end up as a FIVE? They were 11-7 in the Mountain West! Their non-conference was, decent? Notable games that I see were losses to BYU and Grand Canyon, and wins vs Saint Mary's and Gonzaga. It's not terrible, but I don't see how that pushes them so much higher than the rest of their conference when they were just above .500 against the teams they are seeding as 10's and 11's

But, like I seen, the NCAA hasn't been kind to conference tourney winners recently. Two in 10 years. Not to mention BYU as a #6 seed. Currently 12th at NET and 16th at KenPom. Add to that two scary mid-majors, Drake and Morehead State.

I don't really disagree with them for not valuing conference tournaments that much in terms of seeding. The overall conference play and 20+ game seasons to me show a lot more about what a team is than the conference tournament If UConn lost in their opening game in the conference tournament, they still are one of the 3 best teams in the country

The overall conference play and 20+ game seasons to me show a lot more about what a team is than the conference tournament If UConn lost in their opening game in the conference tournament, they still are one of the 3 best teams in the country My biggest issue is that the criteria are always shifting. We're told that how you played down the stretch is more important than what you did in December or January. If you were consistent all year and have a blip like an early round loss in your conference tourney, that shouldn't mean much. But if you lose four of your last seven games including an early exit in the conf tourney, that should affect your seeding. Likewise, winning your conference tournament (particularly in a power conference) after a solid if not spectacular regular season, should at least put you in the discussion for a #1 seed. It's bonkers to me that as Goodman pointed out, Iowa State received the lowest of the #2 seeds after what they accomplished in their tournament. Sometimes it just feels like the committee decided the seedings before the conference tourneys were finished, and didn't feel like updating them, no matter what happened. Or worse, they've stacked the deck for or against certain teams in order to achieve a desired result.

If you are the overall #1, shouldn't you get the weakest of the 4 #2's, 3'3, etc. That clearly isn't the case for UConn.

They claim UConn got choice of region, then they placed each of the 2s, 3s,... based on minimizing travel.

Howard vs Wagner. Sounds like a nerd off. You know, first one to knock the others eyeglasses off wins.
Actually, it's the first of the four play in games to the Big Dance. Starting now.

Council Jr., guard for Wagner, has as many points as the entire Howard team. Wagner leads.
It's Xavier vs Georgia in the NIT right now. Tight one.

Got exciting towards the end, Howard had a chance to tie it on the last shot. Wagner wins.
