What's scary is he's exactly the kind of player they have a history of overpaying for. It's the guys who have proven themselves in Boston that mgmt always lets walk.

Someone will jump to give him $50,000,000 a year to DH next year and hope to Hell that he's the player he was in 2022 when 2025 gets here. I think Ohtani will be another Pujols, another Cabrera, a contract that kills a team for a decade or more

I want the Mets to bolster their pitching staff with the likes of Aaron Nola and Jordan Montgomery. I'd also be interested to see if Jack Flaherty accepts a pillow contract, a la Cody Bellinger. Flaherty has been hurt and/or awful since his excellent 2019 campaign.

How about we split Nola (Mets) and Montgomery (Red Sox) and then the Mets sign Flaherty but trade him to the Red Sox at the 81 game mark for.....let's see, how does Marcelo Mayer sound?

Mayer was awful at AA last year but I still think he's going to be a star

You drive a hard bargain goodman, I respect that. Roman Anthony it is! Agree on Mayer. AA is where most prospects have their first taste of struggle as the talent level really jumps and you tend to avoid those "little league" types of things, plus the game moves much faster. He has all the makings of a star.

1.21 ERA, .884 WHIP, egad. Yeah, it's Japan and Japanese hitters but also in those bandbox stadiums. His stats are better than Nomo's, Daisuke's or even Ohtani's. Has a 95 Mph fastball and a splitter that scouts sy would be top five in MLB. He not too big, built like Marcus Strotman. And, with the posting fee, he won't be cheap

He's on his way to St. Louis, with Montgomery and Nola and Snell.

He's on his way to St. Louis, with Montgomery and Nola and Snell. There's another Japanese pitcher coming with good stuff, a tad below Yamamoto's. Can't remember his name but he was the one who started for Japan in the WBC Final.
I read a few article stating that Japanese players are catching up to North American players. The scientific approach, the training methods and the sports medicine are up to MLB standards. Will Japanese teams ever be able to compete with MLB teams, not for a long time. Will we see more Japanese players in MLB and putting up number, yes

In all earnestness, the Mets are currently pegged as the frontrunners to land Yamamoto for whatever that is worth, but he'll be gunning for a $200m contract based on his age and pedigree. That's tough for a guy who has never faced MLB batters. I've always been wary of Japanese pitchers, but Kodai Senga was fantastic this year.

Brilliant as he was the last 4 months of the year, he can be one of the most infuriating guys to have on your team. After the season they had though, I'm curious to see what the Cardinals do this offseason. They're not used to shitting the bed like that. See, us Mets fans are accustomed to it.

The scouts say he's a step below Ohtani but how far below is anyone's guess. He could be another Daisuke. The Red Sox paid a ton for him and got only two good years.

3 Gold Gloves for the Jays... Chapman & Kiermaier won't be back for 2024.
Toronto sports is awesome. Did I mention Auston Matthews' 3rd hat trick of the year on Sat, in a loss.
Also, Moreno winning NL catcher GG is the best. Can we nix that trade now?

I just saw that Ha-Seong Kim and Mauricio Dubon won Gold Glove as utility fielders. Is this the first time they have done that? Good job on recognizing swiss army knife type players.
But fuck that. Luis Guillorme is probably the best infielder in baseball right now. The award should be named after him.
