Padres owner Peter Seidler died. He seemed like one of the good ones - actually gave a shit about winning.

Apparently Ohtani is "intrigued" by the idea of playing with the Braves. No. No no no no. No he isn't.

The future kind of sucks. It should have happened to the A's guy instead. Nobody would cry if he never lived to see Vegas.

Ohtani demands a massive international market and he simply isn't going to get that with the Braves. He knows this, his agent knows this, and the Braves know it too.

Pretty funny scenario unfolding in Yankeeland. Coming off a terrible season where they not only performed completely flat basically all year, they flubbed the trading deadline and don't seem to have much of a direction this offseason, now GM Brian Cashman has pissed off Giancarlo Stanton.
Don't get me wrong, Stanton is fucking awful. Sure, he can swat a few homeruns here and there, but he is useless at literally everything else. Every time he lightly jogs to first base, you hold your breath for fear of seeing a career-ending injury. He's an albatross. A blight on the roster. An overpaid, completely one-dimensional player.
So recently, rumors came out that he wanted out of New York because they didn't use him properly, or something? By the way, that's totally true, they don't use him correctly. He should be riding the bench and making pinch hitting appearances, and nothing more. But putting that aside, in response to this, Brian Cashman came out and said this:
Why does this matter? Cashman is right in that Stanton is always hurt, and he's wrong about him being a great hitter at this point in his career. The bigger picture however is that Stanton is represented by Jason Wolfe who also represents Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the prized free agent pitcher who is posting this year. I'd have to think that Wolfe will push Yamamoto to stay away from the Yankees at this point, though the Yankees had targeted him as someone they want this year.
All in all, pretty dumb move by Cashman. You gain nothing by speaking out like that and he should know better. And the reality is that Stanton manages to stay healthy and have anything close to a reclamation year, the Yankees should trade him to anyone for literally anything, even if they have to eat 90% of the 120ish million remaining over the final 4 years of his contract.

It's just bad form period, to talk shit about players if you're an exec. You look like a jerk even if you're telling the truth, and it makes players distrust you-- including prospective players. As a Red Sox fan, I hope he keeps doing it!

Unanimous vote on A’s to Las Vegas. Will the Giants make more money now in the Bay or will that never take? I suppose with 2500 ppl at A's games lately, it won't matter.

Bravos making a couple weird trades.
"Braves announced the acquisition of reliever Aaron Bummer from the White Sox for a five-player package. Chicago acquires starters Michael Soroka and Jared Shuster, middle infielders Nicky Lopez and Braden Shewmake and minor league righty Riley Gowens."
- Bravos dumping salary here and trading away guys who were potentially non tenders for a lefty reliever they hope they can fix.
"The Braves have traded right-hander Kyle Wright to the Royals in exchange for fellow righty Jackson Kowar."
- This one is baffling. Wright was a 20 game winner a year ago with 2 years left of control. He is going to be out all next year but still. Rumor has it that they possibly don't like the looks of his injury and are getting ahead of it rather than paying him to rehab like they did with Soroka. Kowar has proven to be nothing in the majors.
Bravos just cleared up 10+ million in payroll and freed up like 12 roster spots. This obviously means Ohtani, Nola, Snell signings are imminent.

Chatter already about the low seeds having the stronger Octobers. MLB unofficially, officially says it's still early - aka they're well aware, yet want more sample size, 2-3 more playoffs to see if 162 games still matters for 100 win division winner or not.
Ghost wins is an idea - put a division winner up 1-0 in a series to start. Stark, yet we're playing 6 nights a week from April for something still yes? 1 home game max is another idea for lower seed... likely a no-go since owners like money & owners run the sport.
The best way is probably just go back to 4 divisions & 4 teams with home field & any/all advantages they can dream up.
