Yeah, I forgot they were doing well. Jim Kelly's nephew is their QB and doing well.
He must be able to stay out of jail in Canada

Really hope the Red Sox are able to resign Justin Turner. He was a great part of the team.
But first thing first, they need starting pitching badly.

He turned down his player option and he turns 39 next week. I can't imagine the Sox wanting to go higher than what his option exercise price was, and I imagine Turner wants one more juicy payday before he hangs em up. That said, he's kind of a perfect fit for Boston and his style of player and overall demeanor seems to mesh well with that team.

Volpe won the Gold Glove award? I did not find his fielding that impressive. Maybe I expected too much.

Volpe won the Gold Glove award? I did not find his fielding that impressive. Maybe I expected too much. Gold Glove awards are always an equal mix of (i) guys who really excel in the field and are worthy of the accolade, (ii) guys who have great reputations winning on the strength of said reputation alone and not really how they did that year, and (iii) totally random shit.

Bravos pick up $20 million option on Charlie Morton. That surprised me a bit. Not that he is back but the rumors were they would decline the option but negotiate a lower salary. They probably felt he would be in high enough demand if hitting open market. Plus Atlanta is kind of desperate in the pitching department right now with injuries.
As others have already mentioned, I'd love for Atlanta to be in the Nola, Snell, Montgomery sweepstakes but I dont see that happening. Putting my expectations and desire now more towards Michael Wacha. Also need a platoon OF. Carna from the Brewers was a rumored target but he already got traded. Tommy Pham is probably the logical target.

Tommy Pham is probably the logical target. Pham is a nice little player who never quite gelled, and he picked a great time to have a good year. But he'll be 36 on Opening Day, is likely to regress back to the sub 100 OPS+ player he was for the past few years, and is reportedly the worst teammate in MLB. Not sure the Braves want to go there when there are other cheaper, and likely more athletic, options out there for this kind of role. Pham's best bet is probably to stay out in Arizona after the run they just had.

Same goes for Teoscar Hernández. I think they will go the Pham or Profar route. Maybe Robbie Grossman. Id love to have Joc Pederson back though. Doubt they could get Pederson and Pham on the same team though after the fantasy fiasco from a year ago.

Will the Red Sox give him that? I don’t know, but I think he’s worth it. Even at 39 he can still play. He’s more than just a DH too. He can spot in at 3rd and 1B to give Devers and Casas defensive rest. He’s even able to play a little 2B as well. In addition to that he’s a great leader and presence like you mentioned.

Yeah, that sounds about right. He can still hit a ton and I’ve always liked Turner, even back in his utility role days with the Mets.

Am I crazy or is the Ohtani sweepstakes going to be more broad & historic than penciling in the Dodgers or Giants right away.
I don't even think $600 mil is crazy. Team will make half that back by March in merch & int'l spotlight.

Am I crazy or is the Ohtani sweepstakes going to be more broad & historic than penciling in the Dodgers or Giants right away. I'd be pretty shocked if it wasn't the Giants or Dodgers. Ohtani has all but stated that he wants to stay on the west coast and those two teams are just natural fits for him. The Dodgers, licking their wounds after another early exit, have to be salivating at the thought of landing arguably the biggest free agent ever in Hollywood, while the Giants are fresh off of missing out on their two biggest free agent near-misses last year in Judge and Correa (even though Correa was terrible this year). Plus, both teams have money to spare. The Giants have a projected payroll of $143m including arbitration estimates, while the Dodgers sit at $142m, so both teams have the money to throw around and they appear ready to do so. Of course, you have to imagine that signing Ohtani leaves not much room for other free agents, but still.

Montreal 38 - Toronto 17 Argos with 9 turnovers including 2 Kelly pick sixes. 16-2 season & full house at BMO... & it's gone. lols

I just saw that Ha-Seong Kim and Mauricio Dubon won Gold Glove as utility fielders. Is this the first time they have done that? Good job on recognizing swiss army knife type players. But fuck that. Luis Guillorme is probably the best infielder in baseball right now. The award should be named after him. Nah, Brendan Donovan won in 2022. Tommy Edman was nominated at both 2B and Utility last year, could have won two GG's in the same year... I assume.
