So I was thinking, what could elevate MLB's buzz back to the likes of Pedro-Zimmer heat?
How's about a Japanese pitcher on the SF Giants headhunting the Dodgers' Ohtani a couple of times to make it malicious. I think if Ohtani became unglued from that, threw his helmet towards the mound, & started yelling in Japanese threatening a brawl... add the teams' rivalry, int'l attention, maybe baseball makes a headline again.
Sadly, the game itself & results aren't doing it. Now ppl can't even recall a WS winner within 5 weeks of it happening.

Blake Snell to Giants, 2 years, $62 Million. Probably the best spot he could have landed, given that it's a pitcher's park. Snell has command issues but he is also elite at limiting hard contact so the spacious confines of Oracle Park should suit him well. Plus, the Giants rotation has been destroyed by injuries so adding Snell gives the Giants a 1-2 punch of last year's NL Cy Young and 1st runner-up. Even if the rest of the rotation sucks, that's not bad.

Weird start to regular season. Betts walks on pitch clock violation. Steals 2nd on pitch to Ohtani, but sent back to first and they still don't know why, wasn't a foul tip.
Edit: ruled Ohtani interfered

In May of 1969, Peter Cetera and three other members of the rock band Chicago (then known as The Chicago Transit Authority) were at Dodger Stadium for a game between the Dodgers and thevCubs. The Cubs won the ballgame 7-0, and at some point four disgruntled Dodgers fans - U.S. Marines no less - decided to take out their angst on Cetera, who was unabashedly celebrating.
They broke Cetera's jaw in three places sending him to intensive care. Fast forward to later that summer, with Cetera's jaw still wired shut, the band was slated to record the song "25 or 6 to 4." It couldn't wait, and only Cetera could pull off the vocal. He recorded "25 or 6 to 4" - one of the great songs of the era - through gritted teeth.
You may have heard this song hundreds of times and never known. But if you listen closely you can hear the words getting a little slurry at times. Surprisingly little, considering. But noticeable, given that Cetera's vocals are normally very clean.
Anyway, if you like that song just how it is, you can thank four crabby Dodgers fans and Peter Cetera for his unflinching support for the Cubbies.

Cool story, never heard it. 25 or 6 to 4 is their best song. Comical how everyone thought it was about drugs. I guess the lines
"Wondering how much I can take Should have tried to do some more"
Can be taken that way. But it was keyboardist Robert Lamm up all night trying to finish writing a song. Loved Amazon using it in their commercials for a while. Better than the normal hip hop soundtrack

Eh, Zeppelin stole from others. Fair is fair
Bet if you asked 100 people who know music who Jimi Hendrix said was the best guitar player, not many would say "Terry Kath"

Something fishy going on. Came up during a federal investigation of a Southern California bookmaking operation. This guy may just be falling on the sword for him. www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39768770/dodgers-shohei-ohtani-interpreter-fired-theft

The interpreter changing his story is a bad look. It only looks worse when he admits to stealing money, but still insists he never bet on baseball-- as if that would matter to anyone other than how it affects Ohtani. This was maybe the funniest part of the article: What brand furniture did the bookie have? How fancy was his dinnerware? Are they going to return that stuff, or just divvy it up among the agents who performed the raid?
