Does his deferred salary equate into any of the drama?

Only one player in major league history has 10 seasons with at least 1 steal without being caught stealing. Clues. He was caught stealing 3 times in his career. He was an 8 time All-Star. He was elected to the Hall of Fame with 97.2% of the vote. He finished as high as 3rd in MVP voting. He led the NL in WAR 3 times in 4 years.

Is there any actual proof he gambled though? Seems like pure speculation at this point. Also, what was his goal. He knew he’d likely get the biggest contract ever going into this off season. Was he really that hard up for money?

Me neither. Maybe if I had concentrated on #3

Was he really that hard up for money? There's an investigation ongoing. I don't know much about illegal bookkeepers, but I can't imagine them opening up a $5 million line of credit to an interpreter.

Was he really that hard up for money? He was gambling on sports, not sweating bullets while hitting the slots at Mandalay. You're aware some people gamble because they have money to burn?

I still just don’t get the point. He had everything to lose and nothing to gain. Maybe I’m biased because I don’t find gambling really all that fun. There’s literally a million other things he could burn his money on. Why risk his career and reputation for this? Unless he’s just some hopeless addict?

Guys, this is really bad. It looks like Ohtani was throwing games. If this is true, he's done.

Were bets really placed on these games or is he just cherry picking Ohtani's bad starts? And a bookie who can handle a $10,000,000 parley is a rare bird
