KC and Indy are supposedly hammering out a Sneed trade. Great get for the Colts’ secondary if so.

Justin Fields to the Steelers for a 6th round pick that could become a 4th based on playing time. They got him for basically nothing.

That 2021 QB class…
Lawrence - fine, not exactly the generational player expected. Wilson - bust, trade imminent. Lance - bust, traded. Fields - bust, traded. Jones - bust, traded.

The Eagles paid a higher price for Pickett than the Steelers did for Fields. Make that make sense to me.

And 2022 through all of the picks: Pickett, Howell, and Ridder all traded within a week's time. Malik Willis better be checking out rent.com.

The Eagles paid a higher price for Pickett than the Steelers did for Fields. Make that make sense to me. How Steelers GM Omar Khan played this: 1) Eagles were looking to get a trade with Chicago for Fields. It falls through. 2) Steelers trade Pickett to Eagles. 3) Steelers go back to Bears and say "we're the only offer in town - - give us your quarterback for a 6th rounder". If I was a Seahawks, Raiders, or Broncos fan, I'd be asking why we couldn't have given up a 6th that could become a 4th in 2025 for Fields.

Apparently Fields will not be competing with Wilson for the starting job. How does any of this make sense? So that 6th round pick will only become a 4th if Wilson gets hurt or sucks, which is a possibility but still.
I feel bad for Fields at this point. Did Chicago completely overvalued his market that teams just gave them the middle finger to the point he only got a 6th rounder? You can't tell me there aren't at least 3 teams that would improve with Fields. The Raiders would rather roll with Gardner Minshew? Vikings with Sam Darnold? Vikings are a tough one as that would be an in division trade as well as they seem to be in the market for a rookie. Denver needs a QB but Fields doesn't fit what Sean Payton wants. Giants couldn't make a better offer and cut Jones next offseason which is a forgone conclusion? Saints backed themselves into another year of Carr after his restructure.

Maybe explains the low return if Pittsburgh knew they were the only real suitor that had a shot.

Ryan Poles the Bears GM said during the combine that they wanted to "do right by Fields" so that would go along with Rapaport. Took less in return to send him where he wanted to go, but I still question wanting to go somewhere that won't let you compete to start.

Will the 2024 class be any better? There could be 4-6 taken, with the top three picks all being QB's. But none are in the Trev Lawrence/Andrew Luck range. Not even close.
Worst QB Draft class ever? Maybe 2007. Only two firsts but they were JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. Three 2nd rounders, Kevin Kolb, John Beck and Drew Stanton. I'll be dipped if I remember John Beck at all, even in college

I would think Fields may have wanted Pitt because Wilson is basically a 1 year rental. If he doesn't play well, Fields starts later this year. If he does play well, he's a FA who will most likely test the market and if he leaves, Fields starts in 2025. As for Poles, I get wanting to do right by him. But at the same time, this is a business. If another team had a better offer on the table and Fields didn't want to go there, sorry Justin but that's where I'm sending you.

It was also reported that the Steelers are interested in extending Russ. Now, I figure that is being put out there by Russ' agent so I wouldn't hold much weight to it. For Fields to start in 2025 they would have to pick up his 5th year option for a good chunk of money which I'd be shocked at them doing considering they won't even let him compete for the job this next season. It doesn't seem like they have a plan, they just made both these moves for nothing and think they'll figure it out as it goes.

Mike Williams to the Jets for 1 year up to $15 million.
I have liked what the Jets have done this offseason. They aren't committing long term to any of these moves but are putting themselves in a good position to contend assuming they stay healthy. I think they should be the current favorites to win the AFC East. Miami lost a lot of talent and so did Buffalo.

RG3's comments about Caleb Williams should refuse to play for the Bears is laughable. Sure, the Bears have never had a great QB in its long franchise history. However, has there been a better situation for a #1 overall QB to walk into?
The Bears aren't a normal #1 overall pick team as its not their own. They have a solid to good offensive line, a good receiving core with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Gerald Everett, Cole Kmet. Decent to good RB group. A defense that finished strong last season. A solid offensive coordinator. Caleb Williams would be set up to succeed right away in Chicago. I think they will be a playoff team next year. Detroit, Green Bay, Chicago could all be playoff teams.

Aren't they looking for a new stadium, & rightly so? Chicago can reclaim itself as a big boy NFL town, rather than the NFC North pushover they've been since what, 1987?

Last I knew they were in talks for a new stadium. They were talking about a lot that would take them out of Chicago like an hour or so north I think. Negotiations weren't going great last I heard but that was last year. They definitely need a new stadium as Soldier Field is a trashcan. Always hear complaints about their field.
