It's not really that they are teenagers that they are messing up on. It's how they are portraying them. In the comics, the X-men are more of a private militia and train as such. You don't get that from the movies. It's more like being X-men is secondary. I think they do tha so they don't really have to think up action scenes for them. Notice that most of the action scenes are from the villains. Well, the X-Men didn't even exist until the end of Apocalypse. Wait, so you mean Mystique was talking out her butt when she told Jean that in First Class they called themselves X-men? And I was including the OT, also.

And I was including the OT, also. Pretty much. She only said that to encourage the kids. Earlier in the film Hank said they only talked about forming the X-Men. Singer seems to think so as well. www.ign.com/articles/2016/05/02/x-menas-professor-x-is-christ-and-apocalypse-is-a-false-god

Oh dear lord I can already see the Razzie nomination in Sophie Turner's future if she's tasked with trying to do a real Dark Phoenix storyline. For the love of god I do wish the X-Men films would just reboot and give us something different than just the same old things in separate movies. I mean how many times do we have to see Magneto as one of the main bad guys?(3 films) Jean Grey having the Phoenix be part of her powers?(2 1/2 films) Wolverine's origin with Weapon X?(3 films) William Stryker?(4 films) My guess is we'll get yet another Quicksilver knock off scene from DOFP just like we got in Apocalypse so that'll likely be added on to a list of things these X-Men films just check off in their lists. Hugh Jackman will be done with Wolverine so I don't see what's keeping them from rebooting the franchise. It's not like they have to accommodate for his Wolverine anymore. Reboot the X-Men in the Deadpool universe where they can have adventures that take place in the current decade and have them already be established as the X-Men as Deadpool's film showed (with Collossus being a member and Negasonic being like a trainee.) It shouldn't be that hard. I have no interest in seeing this young cast in what will likely be another 10 year decade jump and for them to try and pull off a Phoenix storyline that I have zero interest in seeing or believing that it'll be pulled off remotely well. Completely recast everybody, get a brand new director, a new screen writer and try something fresh and new. I don't want to watch these characters be kids/teenagers. I want to watch them full on be the X-Men. Sophie will do well if the script is fine.

She could of been great in Westworld as playing a robot could really suit her skill set.

I do mean the cartoons, and various Alternate Universe comics as well. Anytime we see anything important with Jean in it, it always leads to Phoenix. I can't totally fault the writers, it IS the only plot Jeans' ever had. The cartoon and comics audience who have actually read or watched those story arcs represent a very small percentage of the audience actually, so yes, it's not overdone for the vast majority of the audience. A great interpretation would be well accepted. Well the X-Men animated show in the 90s was a hit show and fondly remembered you know by everyone who saw it back then.

DC used to make some great cartoons when they were doing, Batman, Superman, Batman Beyond and Justice League.
I have no idea what cartoons they even do anymore. I think there's a Spider-man cartoon but I don't know if there's a X=men, Superman or Batman cartoon currently running.

Even Bruce Timm has lost his touch, considering the "Batman and Harley Quinn" movie he did. There aren't any X-Men cartoons not, Disney put out a new Spider-Man one (it's not bad). And there's Justice League Action.

Try Justice League Dark. it was likely better than Batman and Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn is currently suffering from too much over exposure. DC needs to pull back on her a bit. She almost ruined the story mode of Injustice II. I just rather not get into Marvel cartoons, they are so awful they make me almost want to weep. this is what happens when disney takes full control of marvel.

Aside from Hanna-Barbera FANTASTIC FOUR (with Torch) and the Sunbow SPIDER-MAN (solo and Amazing friends), I never really was a fan of Marvel Animation in those days. Although the series introduced me to Gambit, Jubilee, Mr. Sinister, smart Beast (I was reading AVENGERS Joker-Beast), and several major storylines from comics I couldn't afford (Days of Future Past, the non-#137 issues of Dark Phoenix), I never really warmed to X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (I believe it was because I was too comfortable with the Cockrum-with-Kitty roster rather then the series' Blue-Team-with-Ororo-and-Jean). I was more DC, like BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (celebrating its 25th Anniversary and holds up rather well) and Disney like GARGOYLES. The Disney Afternoon cartoons at the time were also good, having material that made me feel weird (in terms of depth not usually seen in Saturday Morning material, e.g. TALE SPIN's "Her Chance to Dream")

Disney's 90s cartoons were better than the Marvel cartoons we got from the same era. Especially stuff like Gargoyles. Nah, Gargoyles was awesome but nowhere near as good as X-Men and Spider-Man. The Fox Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons suffered from pretty bad animation (especially X-Men) and the X-Men cartoon had bad voice acting (except for maybe Wolverine and Magneto). The X-Men cartoon was also pretty lazy because most of what it did was adapt stories from the comics without putting any new twists or ideas in there, and whenever they tried to do original stories they stunk BAD. So most of their work was done for them. Gargoyles was overall better animated, better written and better acted.
