John Landis is right but he cant complain because he isnt the target audience for the MCU, its aimed at little children and pre adolescent teens.

Will we pull classic stories like the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Poo from the tiny grasp of little children? Will Poo bear, realizing that he is indeed a bear now turn into a death machine that mauls the innocent for honey? Will Alice be stuck in a loop of introspection as she contemplates her true place in Wonderland? Will the Wicked Witch of the West become a dual AK-47 wielding, anti-heroine who metes out vigilante justice to those who would do evil in Oz? It sounds rather "challenging" actually. SaveSaveWell Im just glad Im still in touch with my inner child apparantly. Which I tend to prove late at night is trolling threads with Colden. So let MCU be kiddie. The most sad people are the ones that have forgotten they were ever kids. Those sad DC adults are nothing but swamp ass. Proud to be kiddie. Thats my new motto.

John Landis is right but he cant complain because he isnt the target audience for the MCU, its aimed at little children and pre adolescent teens. In Guardians Vol. 2 alone, there's a scene where Yondu's mutinous crew throws every Ravager still loyal to him out the airlock and we get to watch every moment of freezing, suffocating death in the subzero vacuum of space. Oh, and there's a cavern full of child corpses. What was this about the MCU being targeted at children?

People having a full range of emotions, the music isn't all dark and foreboding, the characters wear colorful costumes. That kind of stuff.

Legendary Director John Landis Trashes the Marvel Cinematic Universe
It's certainly hard to discount the enormous success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has released 15 hit movies over the past nine years with varying degrees of success, although none of their movies are considered total flops by any means. The MCU's latest movie, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, is both a critical hit (81% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a commercial hit ($823.3 million worldwide), much like most of the other MCU movies, but the franchise certainly has no shortage of detractors. One of those is legendary director John Landis, who bluntly stated that he's "bored shitless" with the franchise in a new interview. Here's what he had to say, when asked his thoughts about shared universe's as a whole, and why Wonder Woman was received so well. "I'm just... truthfully, I'm bored shitless with the Marvel Universe now. All the superhero movies tend to be interchangeable, you always have these mass destruction of cities, and huge computer-generated extravaganzas, to the point where you could take a reel from any of the Marvel superhero movies, and put it any of the others, and nobody would notice. It's just, they're the same thing over and over again. But, I don't know, people are showing up. One of the reasons Wonder Woman has been received so well by the critics is that it doesn't destroy cities! Even the superhero stuff is on a very human scale, it's the gods! We're not seeing skyscrapers tumbling!"
John Landis is not a "legendary director" to begin with and should just STFU as he's got blood on his hands...

Only adults secure in their own maturity will be able to enjoy child friendly movies of good quality. Immature adults will find their maturity threatened by watching anything that kids might enjoy.

Pretty much. If you're an adult, you SHOULD be past the point of feeling you have to prove you're "all grown up" to people. You've moved out of your mom's house, have a job, and live either on your own or with roommates. Those things alone should speak for themselves.

People having a full range of emotions, the music isn't all dark and foreboding, the characters wear colorful costumes. That kind of stuff. Ah, right. If the characters aren't constantly naval-gazing and talking about how important everything is in low, hushed noises to let the audience know "THIS IS PROFOUND, DAMN IT!", it's for children. Not to mention a lot of the songs in the Guardians films are actually not intended for family listening. "Come to a Little Closer," which plays over the scene when Yondu slaughters his entire mutinous crew springs to mind. Oh, right, there's another scene that's not exactly child-friendly: full space-station wide slaughter via having a telekinetic arrow shoved through everyone's torso. And the only way a film can be taken seriously is if everyone's wearing black.
