What events from previous times has Hollywood NOT gotten around to making movies about, that you think they should?
Two books come to mind, The Boys Who Challenged Hitler by Knud Pedersen and Phillip Hoose, and The Klan Unmasked by Stetson Kennedy. And either one of these, I swear, they could just adapt it word for word, detail by detail, not have to change one single thing, not have to use dramatic license anywhere, and they would be big hits.

Not a specific event, but the record industry during the 1900-1910 period would be a good source for material.
Even the running of a record shop could make a good movie, since how record shops worked back then was very different to today. For example, record shops would give "Phonograph Concerts", where they would play records for free to an audience at a public meeting place (such as a town hall or such). The magazine from that era, "Edison Phonograph Monthly", provides a lot of information about how record shops were run in those days. For example, back then, the staff of the shop would play a record for a potential customer, so the customer could see if they wanted to buy the record or not. I doubt you'd get that kind of service these days.

I think a great black comedy could be made about the Beanie Baby craze of the late 1990s. According to the book The Great Beanie Baby Bubble by Zac Bissonnette, there was a lot of bizarre drama behind the story of the creator of the toys, and the hysteria that followed among collectors who seriously believed that these bean-stuffed animals would someday explode in value like valuable antiques (today they can be found at flea markets for a few bucks).

A biopic of General Edwin A. Walker. The man's life would make a fascinating film. Read his entry on Wikipedia. Anti-Communist and John-Bircher, under orders from President Eisenhower he helped integrate Central High School in Little Rock, AR; but then led the resistance against integrating University of Mississippi after he resigned from the military; was forced into a mental institution by Attorney General Robert Kennedy, but freed 5 days later after public pressure; ran for governor of Texas; was an assassination target by Lee Harvey Oswald (before the Kennedy assassination); organized verbal attacks against UN Ambassador Adlai Stevenson as well as went on many speaking tours against the Kennedy administration as well as for anti-communism; has a US Supreme Court case named after him (Associated Press v. Walker); and was later in life (after his public career was over) arrested for public lewdness. He also has been rumored to have been the inspiration behind the character of Jack Ripper in Dr. Strangelove.
I have no idea why no one has ever made a film about him.

Abolitionist John Brown. So much stuff there. Half mad lead character. Pottawatomie massacre. Harper's Ferry Raid. And a hanging at the end. Yeah, there was the 1940 Santa Fe Trail. As far as history, it was on a par with the Bugs Bunny film Napoleon Bunny-Part.

The Fall Of The Philippines: it's been done piecemeal, and some very good war movies were set during that period, notably Bataan!, but I'd like to see the entire period,--several months--roughly December, 1941-May, 1942, covered. It's a tragic, heroic and moving story, deserves a big film treatment along the lines of The Longest Day and Tora! Tora! Tora!.
John Toland's book But Not In Shame would be a great place to start, as to research. It would take some imagination and excellent writing to fit those terrible days, weeks and months into a feature length film of even three hours length, but it could be done; in my opinion, should be done.
Downside: World War II is retreating rapidly from living memory and there's little interest in history among younger moviegoers. Also, there's no way to "glamorize" what happened on the archipelago during that period.

The circus we are living in right now with the Trump administration. Although I suppose it is too early for that right now. The writers of that certain show must weep of complete shock right now.

perhaps the death of gareth williams. Not a movie but a miniseries chronicling the relationship between aaron burr and alexander hamilton as well.
