It just sounded a little on the harsh side. Crushing dreams of a nation and ruthlessly pushing somebody aside. You'd think she's on the same level as a coldblooded killer or a dictator who oppresses an entire nation lol

Venus Williams crushes the dreams of an entire nation by ruthlessly pushing Johanna Konta aside from her path to Wimbledon glory. 6-4 6-2. Garbiñe Muguruza will have her second shot at winning Wimbledon, again with a Williams across the net from her. Crushes the dreams of an entire nation? Sheesh. All she did was win a tennis match, she didn't kill anybody. Just a bit of poetic license. It's been 40 years since a British woman won Wimbledon.

I think he is saying Australians had high hopes since they finally had a player in the semis again. It has been 6 years since an Australian singles player has won a major and the most recent one before that has been 16 years ago. I had to look it up. If I ever knew that Johanna Konta had been born in Australia, it had completely slipped my mind.

Did I read it right that both singles finals will be played on Sunday? Is that new this year? Nah, Ladies' final on Saturday as per usual.

They asked Querrey what it meant to him to be the first American to get to the semis since 2009. His answer had nothing to do with being American, just about getting to the semis. We just don't think that way.

We just don't think that way. I have observed that before. I think it has to do with the fact that with American sports there isn't such a big tradition of competition between national teams, as is the case with soccer, cricket, rugby - so an American kid growing up dreams of winning championships for his local team, whereas the equivalent dream of an English or an Argentinian or an Australian kid would be to win for his country.

We just don't think that way. I think Americans playing the tour do play for themselves and not country and I don't fault them for that. Those who play Davis Cup play purely for country. On the flip side of the coin, American tennis fans consider a player country. My all-time favorite women's player is Steffi Graf, but when she played an American I was always on the 'home team's' side.

That's why I'd be torn if Federer played the Samurai in the finals because Federer is my favorite player but I can't root against the American.

Marin Cilic of Croatia beats the American Sam Querrey in four close sets (7-6 4-6 7-6 7-5) to reach his first Wimbledon (and second Grand Slam) final.

Federer reaches his third Wimbledon final in the past four years, his 11th overall, and his 29th Grand Slam final with a straight sets (but far from one-sided) win over Tomas Berdych - 7-6 7-6 6-4.
If he beats Cilic in the final, he will be the first man to win Wimbledon eight times, and he will increase his lead over Nadal, Sampras and Djokovic on the Most-Grand-Slam-Titles category.

Muguruza and Cilic to be champions. What are the odds with the bookies for both finals? I think it will be Muguruza and Federer. I will definitely be watching both matches.

Men's:
Fed 2/9 Cil 4/1
That's basically Fed 80%, Cilic 20%.
Women's:
Mug 5/6 Wil 11/10
That's about Mug 53.4%, Wil 46.6%.

At those odds I would feel tempted to put a quid or ten on Cilic if I were a betting man, which I am not.

Wow I give Cilic a much better chance than 20%. That's insane. He's #6 in the world. Obviously Federer is the favorite, but 80%? No way.

How many times does this Cilic character really need to bounce the freaking ball before EVERY serve?

How many times does this Cilic character really need to bounce the freaking ball before EVERY serve? It's ridiculous, isn't it? He's had a warning from the umpire about time wasting at least once this tournament.

Far too easy for Federer. First eight time men's singles champ.
Well done!
