You are missing the point. Sony could have learned from their mistakes, made TASM 3, spent less money on production and made about the same at the B.O. It would have been 100% theirs. They have to share with Marvel Studios. Sony keeps all the money from this. So what's the difference to them? They got a well received movie unlike the last, and they have a character in a franchise that is going to have a huge boost after avengers 4 like iron Man had after the avengers. I know, but Sony is stupid, bottom line.

I, for one, loved the new Spiderman. I am not concerned with what a movie makes, honestly. There is no doubt that HC is a FAR better movie than TASM 2. Then again, so is just about every movie.

THE MCU isn't flopping and it isn't going to go away to make things easier for your oh so precious inferior DCEU.

Better films than your shitty inferior DCEU. Well, I don't like the mass produced unimaginative butchering of characters who have survived for close to a hundred years. You, by the way, don't know better than the rest of us. Learn to live with the fact that our fondness for the MCU is perfectly legitimate. So fuck you again.

"Viceroy! I don't want this stunted slime in my sight again..." This "No!," I'm fine with and in fact in favor of, although I'm sure at best we could only agree to disagree on that score. Anyway. It's the one they slipped into the end of Jedi that I think really detracts from the scene. Pretty sure it was a new addition to the blu-Ray releases.

I thought they slipped it into Empire when Luke decided to let himself fall instead of joining Vader.

And now apparently they're still losing money but I don't think that's because of Homecoming but rather the shit they churn out like The Emoji Movie.

I actually think that was a mainstay from the Specials that survived the DVD release that was actually taken OUT of the bR. I could be wrong though -- about the versions in which it appeared; it's definitely the Palpatine scream in Empire that you're remembering.

I hear ya. My Mom is constantly buying big boxes of DVDs at yard sales, and she'll actually replace any VHS movies we have with DVD copies if she obtains them. A few weeks ago, she purchased one of those boxes, and the original Star Wars trilogy was in it. She's never actually watched Star Wars, so I spent like an hour or so trying to explain to her how abominable the DVD versions of the trilogy are in order to convince her to keep the VHS version. And then she ended up keeping both versions because "they are different from each other, so it's important to have both." Oh boy.

I'm glad most filmmakers just let their old work speak for itself instead of obsessively retooling. They're a testament of what the filmmaker and the then current resources were capable of at the time.

Good news. That scream in 'The Empire Strikes Back' DID get taken out in the most recent version.

Personally, I don't have issues with Special Editions themselves (aside from things like Han vs. Greedo or Vader screaming). It's more of the fact that original versions are not available officially as we're speaking right now.
