@johnthehumble you don't even make sense. You say one thing than deny it, then say something else. Nah,if you think a site is good then must really suck.

@johnthehumble or I can just leave which will be what I will probably end up doing. Why would you want to leave?

The site needs direction and the trolls need to be dealt with. I'm always open to suggestions. What do you propose? Specifically, what would you have us do that you believe isn't already being done?

Well .... That escalated quickly..... I was going to suggest this poem by Rudyard Kipling as something to read and think about the opportunity every encounter with someone that may prove confrontational actually provides. But the dude deleted his account. Anyway, if someone wants a guide on how to make lemonade out of high charged encounters, and what keeping your cool through those encounters can give you, check out the poem. Old Rudyard must have encountered his share of confrontation in his day.

Yes, I read that poem when I was a teenager and found it very inspirational. My father actually showed it to me. Nice, bumping into it again. I just sent it to my son.

Sometimes you just have to ignore. Trolls can be funny sometimes.

Well, that's your prerogative. People should only be somewhere if it is pleasurable and they feel comfortable. The Internet is a pretty rough place (mostly because of the anonymity factor - most people wouldn't say in civilized and polite real life company, what they say under a screen name which is why you need moderators here but short of the Courts, you hardly need moderators in real life). For their own sake, it would be desirable for people who want to enjoy this kind of experience - posting in a forum - to develop some tolerance for these behaviors which are common fare everywhere, but if they don't, then there are plenty of other opportunities for entertainment and fulfillment out there. Nobody *needs* to post on message boards if the experience doesn't agree with them. And that is exactly why this site will fail. You shouldn't have to put up with Trolls and dickheads. But as I mentioned this site is Pro Troll. NO, that is why you will fail in REAL LIFE & the REAL WORLD. Real Life is full of real person meanie baddie Trolls. Maybe you need a safe space, play dough, & a therapy dog to help cope with life. The really sad part is that you can not handle Trolls on an internet message board. Life is a real b*tch cupcake, so maybe you need to learn to suck it up. If you can not handle it here on a message board where you have a few options available here: 1) just suck it up Butter Cup 2) fight back 3) hit the ignore/block button However, since you can not apparently do any of the above simple options, you are going to have a tough time in REAL life & the REAL WORLD. REMEMBER IN REAL LIFE & REAL WORLD, THERE ARE NO SAFE SPACES OR IGNORE BUTTONS.

The only other forum I use is called Kanzenshuu and that lacks all kinds of nastiness and is one of the most well behaved forums I've ever been on thanks to some good modding.

That is all good, but not every place on the internet is going to be "Troll Free". They're just a part of the internet & life in general. There are no safe spaces in real life. I tell people learn how to deal with Trolls, even the Nasty ones, because it can teach them how to deal with real life pain in the a*ses. I personally like dealing with Message Board Trolls, for the most part, because most of them are quite comical. However, if they get to be too much there is always the block/ignore button option.

In the three short weeks this forum has been online, 35 users have been banned, and plenty of others have received warnings and requests to modify their behavior. Some think there should be no moderation, while others think we should be more aggressive. I do not believe in an "all or nothing" philosophy, but rest assured that this is not a forum where trolls and troublemakers are allowed to roam free. It should probably also be noted that ultimatums are not persuasive, and as such, any decision to take action is not influenced by threats to leave the forum if we don't give in to demands.

I'm mixed on them, this place wouldn't feel right without them and over the years dealing with them and arguing with them it has helped me to make better arguements and retorts and the like. As long as it doesn't become overbearing with it. Imdb went downhill because there were an overabundance of them, that we don't.

I sometimes wonder the impact of things like moderation, ignore/block features has had on snowflakes and their need for safe spaces. If maybe things like this have indulged them and given us a generation of Veruca Salts.
