The Resistance will keep control of the Galactic SenateNIEN NUNB Thr Resistance will keep their narrow Galactic Senate majority for the next two years, GNN projects, after victories in close contests on Naboo and Tatooine. The party defied the historical trend of midterm elections breaking against parties in power and overcame anxiety over high inflation, cementing its majority as voters rejected First Order candidates who had aligned themselves with former Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, and in many cases parroted his lies about the Jedi and the Force. Political analysts ask “What happened to the First Wave?” The “First Wave” was supposed to sweep the galaxy with overwhelming support from Imperial supporters and Kylo fanboys. What happened to the supremacy of the Supreme Leader’s influence? Is there some secret responsible for this buried in the mystery of the Force? Stay tuned for further galactic news.

Failure to pick up Senate control is already having reverberations inside the First Order
NIEN NUNB
There have been calls to delay Wednesday’s leadership elections until after the Jeddha runoff. Senator Lott Dodd said he’d been approached by “a lot of people” about standing against Senate Minority Leader Mas Amedda, with whom he’d had significant messaging disagreements during the midterms. Still, it likely won’t be lost on many lawmakers that the party fell short on Dodd’s watch.
More importantly, the Resistance's continued hold on power gives them two more years to remake the Jedi. In the event that a vacancy arose on the Jedi Council, a Resistance led Senate would have a good chance of installing a new Jedi Master to start to weaken the current conservative majority.

Rey Kenobi Palpatine Skywalker will win Jakku Governor’s race
NIEN NUNB
Rey Kenobi Palpatine Skywalker will win Jakku Governor’s race, GNN projects, defeating one of the most prominent defenders of former Kylo Ren’s lies about her parentage.
First Order Candidate Unkar Plutt had repeatedly spread Kylo Ren's lies that Rey "was a nobody"
“Thank you, Jakku. I am so honored and so proud to be your next Governor. This proves that Jakkunians know Bantha Puddu when they see it.”

Naboo News brutally trolls Kylo Ren
NIEN NUNB
If you’re looking for the most brutal treatment of Kylo Ren’s announcement, look no further. The Naboo News has won the title.
A page 26 story headlined “Ren there, done that” was teased at the bottom of the front page with only: “Mustafar man makes announcement.”
One comment in the article advised Ren to "take that ridiculous mask off" and also to "put a towel on"

Why Jawas and Sandpeople feel stung by coverage of the Boonta Eve Classic
NIEN NUNB
“Today I feel Jawa. Today I feel Sandpeople. Today I feel Moisture Farmer” Said Fodesinbeed Annodue in a fiery tirade on Saturday, comparing his own plight as a two-headed son of migrants to that of marginalized communities.
Those statements on the eve of the Classic went viral, inviting much anger and ridicule. But to many Jawas and Sandpeople, they resonated strongly.
In the run-up to the Race, Galactic media coverage has been dominated by the controversies surrounding the event rather than the sport itself, including the Planet’s treatment of Moisture Farmers, its rules on Sandpeople, and its tight Jawa restrictions.

The Jedi Council will decide the fate of Order 42
NIEN NUNB
In response to an appeal from 19 Outer Rim systems that want to keep Order 42 in place, the Jedi Council temporarily blocked the administration from carrying out its plans to end the policy, hours before the Order was set to expire.
Former Supreme Leader Kylo Ren famously executed Order 42 four years ago, to help slow the flow of Illegal Aliens onto Outer Rim planets such as Jakku, Jedha and Tatooine.

Jedi Council says Ren-era Order 42 will remain in effect
NIEN NUNB
The Jedi Council said Tuesday that the controversial Ren-era restriction known as Order 42 will remain in effect while legal challenges play out, a move that ensures that Republic officials will be able to continue to swiftly expel Illegal Aliens at least for the next several months.
The 5-4 order is a victory for Outer Rim planets that urged the Jedi Council to step in. The Senate has said it was prepared for Order 42 to end, and had put in place precautions to guard against confusion, and any potential surge of Illegal Aliens.

Jar Jar Binks to make history as the first Gungan lawmaker to lead a party in Congress
NIEN NUNB Representative Jar Jar Binks is expected to make history as the first Gungan lawmaker to lead a party as the 1118th Congress convenes on Coruscant.
While First Order quarrels prevented the election of a new Speaker Tuesday, the Resistance displayed unwavering support for Binks, at one point chanting “Jar Jar! Jar Jar!”
Binks told reporters Tuesday he is not willing at this point to help the First Order elect a speaker.
“Weesa bein lookin for a willing partner to solve da problems for da Galaxy, not bein savin da First Order from dysfunction” Binks said.

Gatt Maetz called the AT-AT 'unlawful machinery' and urged his colleagues to help eliminate it 'once and for all'
NIEN NUNB
Representative Gatt Maetz is calling on his colleagues to support a bill that would abolish the AT-AT, a machine that operates under the Department of Galactic Defense.
"The AT-AT cannot be trusted to protect our right to keep and bear arms," Maetz said.
"There is no timeline where the AT-AT, under any administration, would become an ally [to blaster owners]. It needs to go, we need to abolish the AT-AT before they abolish our Second Amendment rights."

Imperial Probe Droid spotted over Naboo
NIEN NUNB
An alleged probe droid spotted over Naboo is a "civilian droid" which had deviated from its planned route, the First Order says.
Naboo defense officials said they believed the droid, seen above sensitive areas in recent days, was in fact a "high-altitude surveillance" device.
But in a statement, the First Order said it was used for "mainly meteorological" purposes.
The First Order "regrets the unintended entry" of the droid on to Naboo, it added.
Theed office worker Joe Amidala told the Naboo News that he noticed the "droid in the sky" and went home to get a better camera.

N-1 fighters shoot down First Order probe droid over Theed River NIEN NUNB
“On Wednesday, when I was briefed on the droid, I ordered the Royal Defense Force to shoot it down as soon fast as possible. They decided to wait and avoid damage to anyone on the ground,” Queen Jamilla said Saturday.
Advanced N-1 Starfighters from Theed Hangar on Naboo fired a single missile to take down the droid on Saturday, said a senior Naboo military official.
The moment of impact could be seen over the waterfall as onlookers captured holograms of the military operation.
Earlier Saturday, Queen Jamilla had told reporters in Theed her administration was “gonna take care” of the droid.

Ackbar says GNN fired him, feels "trapped" by his termination
NIEN NUNB
"I was informed this morning that I have been terminated by GNN" the anchor tweeted. "I feel like I was caught in a trap."
After 17 years at GNN, I would have thought that someone from the Resistance would have had the decency to tell me directly."
But in a follow-up statement, the network disputed his account of the events, saying he was "offered an opportunity to meet with Resistance leaders, but instead released a statement on HoloTwitter."
Ackbar's firing came the same day that First Order News and Armitage Hux parted ways in a major shakeup for GNN's Galactic rival.
