Can a mod close this thread now, the talks are DEAD and theres too much delusion being spouted in here and the other thread They're only dead because Fox's shares went up a little, so it's more "halted" than anything else. As soon as the shared go down again, they'll be back at the table. Yeah Im sure you know the inside scoop. Maybe you are a disney shill after all.

Don't give him any ideas.

Thankfully the talks fell apart. This would have been a disaster. Do people honestly think Disney would have made films like Deadpool and Logan like Fox did? Logan was a one-shot thing because it was Jackman's Swan Song, and if all you have to bring up is Deadpool and not any of the other X-Movies...then the FoX-Men are in pretty poor shape. And for the record, FOX didn't make Deadpool. They threw money at Ryan Reynolds to make him stop bugging him and HE more or less made Deadpool without studio interferece. You realize that you pretty much said the exact same thing as me, only added a couple point of your own. Tat is that Disney would never have allowed this to happen. As for X-Men, has that series been perfect? Of course not. But they have several good to great movies in that series now, and the next two movies lined up look good so far.

Right now the R Rating is all FOX has to offer, MCU would make good enough films they wouldn't need to resort to desperate "Let's toss blood and cursing in to bolster the film" strategies. Plenty of MCU-hating FoX-Men fans would say yes.

Im more worried about about the Alien and Predator franchise. If Disney really owns the rights then, then we can say goodbye to them. If they stop producing these movies, it's because they're not performing. You bet your ass they're going to continue to make Deadpool movies.

And was the last time there was a good Alien and Predator film, anyway? Before we were born? When we were kids?

Um, Predator 1 and Aliens? So like... 1987?)

Before I was born, and not to mention, the latest Alien: Covenant flopped, so it seemed people lost interest in that franchise after Prometheus, and many people were split about it whether they thought it was good or not.

Prometheus actually has pretty respectable reviews, but if you look around the Internet a lot of people really disliked it. I thought the trailer forward was great, but ended up extremely disappointed. I thought it was a pretty bad movie myself. I prefer it sequel.

And just for the record, Aliens (1986) is the most recent film in the franchise I liked. I liked certain things in Prometheus and Covenant, but as a whole, I just couldn't stand how dumb the characters in both films are. Sure, the space truckers in the original weren't geniuses, but at least that film had Ripley, though not a badass yet, was very intelligent. And Cain, Dallas, Lambert, and Parker were all at least average intelligence. Not counting Ash, since he's a robot. And Aliens had Ripley, Hicks, and Newt. I couldn't root for anyone in the Post-1992 films.

The Xenomorphs are predictably violent and stupid, the humans are predictably dumb, and the Androids are laughing at everyone. It's all very pointless. All that franchise has is an iconic monster with a moderately interesting lifecycle.

All that franchise has is an iconic monster with a moderately interesting lifecycle. Pretty much, and Prometheus made the mistake of trying to shed more light on that iconic monster when everyone knows the mystery is what makes something more frightening. Take Pennywise from the recent IT movie. That film benefited a lot from the filmmakers not being able to afford to show us his backstory the way King could with words. By the end of the original story, we know Pennywise's whole life story, which dulls the terror IT inspires.

Although, I didn't like it, there was this sense that: its done. The trilogy is complete to what I admit is a logical conclusion. It was all downhill after that.

There are good things in Alien 3 (it certainly has more saving graces than ANYTHING that followed after it), but they don't save the film in my opinion.
