If they stop producing these movies, it's because they're not performing. You bet your ass they're going to continue to make Deadpool movies. And was the last time there was a good Alien and Predator film, anyway? Before we were born? When we were kids? Maybe Shane Black's predator could change that

Deadpool really lends himself to that rating though, and the film was good. But would have never seen the light of day at Disney.
Why should I care about the fanboys? All sides has them and they are stupid. Saying the X-Men series has been all perfect or all bad is lunacy.
This just means Disney would turn out the same "safe" material they do now, and wouldn't gamble at all. In other words a zero chance of any R rated movies.

Deadpool really lends himself to that rating though, and the film was good. But would have never seen the light of day at Disney. If it meant getting X-Men movies that treat the rest of the X-Men who aren't Logan and Xavier with respect, it's worth it. Deadpool is just one character after all. What, the movies can't be good without all being rated R?

And just for the record, Aliens (1986) is the most recent film in the franchise I liked. I liked certain things in Prometheus and Covenant, but as a whole, I just couldn't stand how dumb the characters in both films are. Sure, the space truckers in the original weren't geniuses, but at least that film had Ripley, though not a badass yet, was very intelligent. And Cain, Dallas, Lambert, and Parker were all at least average intelligence. Not counting Ash, since he's a robot. And Aliens had Ripley, Hicks, and Newt. I couldn't root for anyone in the Post-1992 films. I liked Alien 3...mainly the Assembly Cut version. That makes....two of us?

I actually forgot that its reviews were that high until recently comparing it to Alien Covenant. And just for the record, Aliens (1986) is the most recent film in the franchise I liked. I couldn't root for anyone in the Post-1992 films. I liked Covenant, but it definitely had characters doing stupid things. Not as bad as Prometheus, but it was definitely there. I was really disappointed in Prometheus. I thought I was going to love it. Well, it didn't actually do that. It promised to do that at one point, then it somehow became about "mankind's quest for their origins."

The problem with the Alien franchise is that what was once genuinely alien is now all too familiar. The Xenomorphs are predictably violent and stupid, the humans are predictably dumb, and the Androids are laughing at everyone. It's all very pointless. All that franchise has is an iconic monster with a moderately interesting lifecycle. Pretty much, and Prometheus made the mistake of trying to shed more light on that iconic monster when everyone knows the mystery is what makes something more frightening. Take Pennywise from the recent IT movie. That film benefited a lot from the filmmakers not being able to afford to show us his backstory the way King could with words. By the end of the original story, we know Pennywise's whole life story, which dulls the terror IT inspires. Very true. Xenomorphs have no great mystique or depth to fathom. They are a hostile, predatory species bent on survival at any cost. That's no different than anything we see right here on Earth today. The Alien franchise has been living off of a creature with an iconic design and an unusual lifecycle for decades. Both are no longer strong enough to carry a feature film - no matter how many variations on the theme you try.

Thankfully the talks fell apart. This would have been a disaster. Do people honestly think Disney would have made films like Deadpool and Logan like Fox did? Logan was a one-shot thing because it was Jackman's Swan Song, and if all you have to bring up is Deadpool and not any of the other X-Movies...then the FoX-Men are in pretty poor shape. And for the record, FOX didn't make Deadpool. They threw money at Ryan Reynolds to make him stop bugging him and HE more or less made Deadpool without studio interferece. Yeah lots of rewriting history here. Deadpool only got made because RR wouldn't give up on it. He was at it for a DECADE. This is the Fox that some MCU haters are giving credit to. The same Fox that thought THIS was Deadpool: No...Fox just gave in when RR and crew leaked the test footage and got the public to bug Fox enough so Fox would throw a small budget at them. Deadpool worked because Fox DIDN'T CARE. It's the best example ever of how horrible Fox is at making CBMs. Getting them out of the picture resulted in Deadpool. And now of course Logan will be brought up as if that is a normal Fox movie and they are "brave". It's Jackman's last movie....they took no risk there. Never mind that MCU haters were singing the exact same tune BEFORE Deadpool and Logan...so nice try guys. You want to talk about a studio taking risks...that's Marvel. Go see Thor 3 for proof. ....And GotG....and Ant-Man...and Dr Strange. Meanwhile Fox can't even make a movie where they don't wedge Wolverine into it. Every argument for Fox keeping the characters fails. That's because Fox has failed over and over. They've wasted more great characters than any other studio by a mile. Think it's bad that Sony wasted Venom? That WB wasted Doomsday? That Marvel wasted Mandarin? ....They've got nothing on Fox. Try to imagine one studio wasting: Dr Doom Phoenix Galactus Storm Silver Surfer Cyclops Apocalypse Rogue Colossus Sentinels It's an embarrassment. That's all one studio. They had access to some of the most iconic and popular comic book characters of all time and they routinely flushed them down the toilet. That can't even get the public interested. How can a studio make Wolverine less popular than Thor, Capt America, Dr Strange, and Ant-Man? They are the only studio of the big 4 to fail to get a single movie above 250 million. ...That is until they let someone else make one....then Deadpool finally did it. They are the worst CBM studio by every measure. The idea that they are better at making X-men movies is a laughably absurd claim. A Marvel X-men movie would most likely be like GotG...where every character gets to shine instead of being a Wolverine and Friends franchise. Marvel actually made a raccoon and a tree into real characters. Meanwhile Fox can't even make a decent character out of Storm, Cyclops, or Rogue. And like others pointed out, Disney has made plenty of R rated movies in the past so that excuse falls apart too. They would have the ability to use a "Fox" label or anything else they wanted to make a Deadpool movie. What's the other lame excuse? "X-men don't fit in the MCU universe". Oh sure...all you have to do is ignore that Marvel created the X-men and built them into one of the most popular titles in comics history....while in the Marvel universe. It's never been an issue that they existed in the same world. That's a fake complaint built on nothing.

Oh yeah...Fox failing at the Alien franchise. There is another one. You can almost see their fingerprints on the plot. It's the parts where the xenomorph is chasing down hapless crew members for the umpteenth time. Got to have those jump scares and idiot victims piling up a body count that we've seen over and over. Let's not let Scott make something new and different...back to the slasher movie cliches!

Want proof that Marvel can do better job? The Daredevil TV show. That TV show is better than the entire shitty Daredevil movie made by who else...FOX.
So if Marvel can do Daredevil right, I guarantee Marvel can do the Fantastic Four right.

We know nothing of their origins or why Space Jockey was transporting them when something went wrong, very wrong.

It's hard to say whether or not those eggs were laid before or after the space jockey (an Engineer) was killed. Based on what we know of Alien lore, it looks like a simple case of the chest-burster blues. A xeno got loose on the ship and so it goes... Since no one plans to address it, I honestly don't care anymore. The Engineers were interesting for like half a frame but, they've since been portrayed as inscrutable thugs that destroy everything at the slightest provocation. I'm pretty sure Ridley backpedaled from exploring them or fleshing them out once he realized he was heading into Creationism vs. Evolution territory. Alien mythology as some sort of half-baked creation myth would not have been worth the hassle.

I think those eggs were lined up a bit too neatly in a grid-like fashion for an xenomorph queen to have done it, so yeah, I'm of the mind that Space Jockey's race created them, but couldn't control them.

If the poster had said, Marvel would make an Xmen film like Winter Soldier or even Civil War, then that would be at least respectable. But GotG? Cant take anyone who says that seriously.
