This is going to be something that few will likely agree with me on, but whatever the future of these movies might be, Batman as a character and property needs to go away and never be brought back.
I’m not just referring to movies, I mean in general. He’s not an interesting or profitable character, and people are sick to death of him. He’s been milked to death in the comics, the DCAU (which is highly overrated by the way), video games, and movies. It’s time to stop. No more movies, no more comics, no more cartoons, nothing.
Edit: For the record, I no longer care about this subject. If they want to keep beating the dead horse that is Batman, I’m not going to have much of a reaction to it.

Of course he's a profitable character.
People didn't even like Batman vs Superman and it was still one of the most profitable movies of the year with over $100 million in profit.

You must be smoking the goo stuff.
Batman is coming off a huge trilogy of live action movies and while the Aflleck films haven't made as much money, he is still popular. Then there is the huge Arkham video game series. So, please shush your mouth, you make zero sense.

When I said he’s not a profitable character, I meant he’s not profitable anymore.

He has appeared in 3 DCEU movies and all of them have been profitable (yes Justice League will be profitable).

I don't think he needs or should be retired permanently, but I wouldn't mind if they put him on hiatus.

It’s time to stop. No more movies, no more comics, no more cartoons, nothing. Speak for yourself! Even with the failure of recent movie portrayals... there are MANY people, including myself, who still think Batman is still a very interesting character... And sooner or later...Many of us would like to see more media involving the character. We just want the media, that features him, to be more faithful to what the Character has been in the past... And that the Character is featured in a good "Batman" story. Batman as a character and property needs to go away... However, I will support Batman taking a vaction for a while. Quite frankly, I am getting Superhero'ed out! I would hate to get sick of them in their entirety. We used to get a superhero movie every few years, and they seemed to be something very special. But, now, there is two or three movies a year... There is very little effort to make these movies good, because there is such a hurry to get them made. Even the MCU films are starting to lose their appeal. (At Least For Me.) It doesn't help when the same character keeps coming out in every movie either. And how many Spider-Man films & reboots do we need? DC needs to stop making "Batman" movies for A WHILE, and let the fans develop a "craving" for his movies again. Marvel should let some of their characters rest for a while too.

Quite simply, The Dark Knight trilogy will never be beaten for its portrayal of Batman. Nolan effectively killed future incarnations of Batmen by creating the best version himself.
It's the same with Hugh Jackmans Wolverine or RDJs Ironman. If they try to recast and remake movies with those 2 characters, they will fail.
Spiderman was not the case as many people didnt see Toby as a great Peter Parker despite the success of Raimis films.

Well you're not wrong. Few would agree. He's the Sherlock Holmes of comic book characters. People will continue because they're still drawn to the character.

So in reality what you are saying is YOU don't like him so YOU don't want to see him anymore. Your claims that others don't like him are just speculation with zero proof. Your claims that the character isn't profitable are even more ridiculous and there is proof that you are embarrassingly wrong there as well. To sum it up, you LIED about everything except that you don't like Batman and like a petulant child you think you should get to decide everything because . I'm sure DC will consider your briliant advice to get rid of a highly profitable character that also happens to be a world wide icon. Next you can advise Coke to stop selling Coke.

Well, respectfully, thisguy4000, you're the one who made the claim that he's not popular. It usually falls on the claimant to prove the claim, not on anyone else to disprove it.

Well, respectfully, thisguy4000 , you're the one who made the claim that he's not popular. It usually falls on the claimant to prove the claim, not on anyone else to disprove it. The proof I have to offer is the underperformance of The LEGO Batman Movie, the underperformance of JL, and the possible fact that Affleck no longer wants to play the role. That just doesn’t suggest a character who’s at the prime of his popularity.
