I was expecting to see a superhero movie but instead I saw A genuine Spidey movie. I wouldn't go as far to call it a pile of dogshit left out to dry and turn white but as somebody who has read well over 200 ‘Spider-Man’ comic books and owns all the ‘Masterworks’ graphic novel collections I can say Peter Parker was always a nerd BUT the key difference was when he put on the ‘Spider-Man’ costume he acted like a man and people thought he was a full grown man. In 'Homecoming' it was obvious he was a teenage boy and even the criminals knew it. Spider-Man was far more confident with the suit on too and regularly mocked his villains and when he first got bitten by the spider he developed muscles which can be seen in the comic books and seen again in the ‘Spider-Man’ movie with Tobey Macquire but are absent in this. Also absent are his Spidey-senses which were a prevalent part of the original ‘Spider-Man’ comic books and helped him fight villains. I wouldn't say it is as different as the 'Supergirl' TV show and the comic books but I wouldn't call it a genuine 'Spider-Man' movie by any stretch of the imagination and either. I mean could you really see Black Cat realistically falling for this version of Spider-Man? .

In 'Homecoming' it was obvious he was a teenage boy and even the criminals knew it. Well, that's more a problem with the source material. You can't put a 15 year old kid in a tight outfit and have everyone just believe he's a grown man. People SHOULD have realized he was a teen until he was closer to 18 or so. He had muscles, did you see what Holland looked like shirtless? He does have them, Feige just said they weren't going to do the bullet time thing they did in the Raimi movies. And Spidey has been surprised by people in the comics too, so we know the sense doesn't always protect him.
BC didn't meet Peter until he was an adult, in the Ultimate comics when she met the Teen version she threw up when she realized how young he was.

Just watched it for the first time. Excellent movie. Very entertaining and has a lot of funny moments including a couple hilarious moments. Definitely nowhere near the worst Spider-Man movie adaptation.
