Why wouldn't they? He's a better actor than anyone they have and it's not even close. Oh, please. Robert Downey jr., Benedict Cumberbach, Chadwick Boseman, Chrises Hemsworth and Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Mads Mikkelsen, Guy Pearce, Christopher Eccleston, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, and Mark Ruffalo are easily on par with him. They don't need Jackman. A lot of the names listed aren't in the same league. I perhaps didn't use my choice of words correctly when I said "Better". To expand, as far as a performance impacting me, Hugh Jackman has done so more in 'Logan' than any of the actors in the MCU have. The energy, passion, and intensity Hugh Jackman relays on screen is just incredible. They don't need Jackman but they'll never find someone who could pay the character as well as he did imo. Anthony Hopkins, Mads Mikkelsen, Guy Pearce are RDJ are all incredible, I agree, especially Hopkins but none of their characters impacted me as much as Jackman's did.

They're all in the same league as him, if not outright surpassing him. The actors in the MCU easily outclass him as far as performances go. His Logan isn't really that impressive. Anyone they cast as Logan will easily do a better job than him. Well Jackman doesn't impact me the way the MCU guys do. He never impacted me, really. No, that's not the MCU fanboy in me talking. I was never a fan of Jackman's Logan.

I'm against it, but if nothing else, hopefully we'll get a short hairy dude as Wolverine who's more like the comics.

Wolverine is just not an interesting character and Jackman isn't as awesome as everyone makes him out to be.

Have you seen 'Prisoners'? Yes, have you seen "Chaplin" or "Sherlock Holmes"? Yes, and they're both mediocre at best.

Jackman was a lucky bit of casting. He is not the character as described in the comics or the cartoons, and he is more of a romantic lead type than a tough guy, but he was above the material and it worked. Superior to any of the casting in the other MCU films. The only one who comes close is Hemsworth. Neither Evans nor Downey Jr come close to the comics depiction, especially RDJr.
But my prediction is Disney picks someone not white or more emo than Jackman for their X-men. Like how they made Spider-man younger--they will make Wolverine less macho at least. If they do decide to make him tough, he will be nonwhite.
Disney is so predictable you can set your watch to their SJW agenda.
